The main house can sleep up to 11 people in 5 bedrooms and the Cottage has an additional 2 bedrooms. This house really does have everything you could possibly need for your stay and the owner wants you to enjoy every aspect of his home so welcomes you to use everything within it. There is nothing "fancy" about this house and there are no airs and graces - it is simply there to be enjoyed by young and old alike. It is a home that was designed to be lived in. What is wonderful about Skellig Bay View House & Cottage is that a large group of extended family or friends can converge and stay in one great location, yet everyone can still enjoy some time apart from the group. There are lots of nooks and crannies in this house, perfect for stealing away to with a good book!
The main sitting room is cosy and inviting with plenty of comfortable couches and armchairs. It is perfect for evening gatherings with a warm stove and large TV. The breakfast room area is between the sitting room and the kitchen so there is a lovely flow in the living areas. The breakfast dining table has a table and chairs to seat up to 8 people.
The kitchen was created for entertaining. It is really well equipped with all the appliances, utensils, gadgets, crockery, cutlery and glassware you will need to cater for your guests. It now also features both a filter coffee machine along with a second coffee making machine which is suitable for beans, pods and ground coffee.
The main dining room leads off from the kitchen and it is home to a large rectangular table which can set up to 14 people in dining chairs. The owner of this house describes his home as having been "designed to rock" which is evident from the piano strategically placed in this dining room, making it the perfect room for late night sing songs and family enertainment.
Skellig Bay View House is ideal as a multi-generational vacation home. There are bedrooms ideal for the "grown ups" and others that are perfect for children. The main house even has a separate youngsters' sitting room with a large comfy couch, plenty of space, DVD player, large TV and even some toys and games. Wifi is available free of charge to all guests.
Alongside the dining room and facing into the kitchen is a little room we like to think of as the reading room for grown ups. It can be closed off with a heavy blind and the door shut behind you, or you can keep both open and remain ensconced in all the goings-on within the house. In the morning, the room is filled with light and is the perfect retreat with a coffee and newspaper and in the evening, it is ideal for a glass of wine while enjoying a good book.
Three of the bedrooms are located upstairs:
The main master double bedroom
A triple room ideal for parents and a child (has a double bed and a single bed)
A split-twin bedroom with two single beds on two levels within the same room - perfect for children or teens to share
The main bathroom is upstairs with a bath
The remaining two bedrooms are downstairs:
The second master double bedroom
A small twin bedroom with two single beds ideal for children or teenagers
There is a roomy bathroom downstairs with a large shower in addition to a small guest bathroom at the bottom of the stairs perfect for washing off the sand after a day at the beach to prevent it being brought into the house.
There is a separate utility room with a washing machine, tumble dryer, additional fridge and plenty of space for storage.
Just across the yard from the main house is Skellig Bay View Cottage. This is ideal for the grandparents to stay in so they can have a bit of space away from the hustle and bustle of the main house. It would also be ideal for a family with young children who need some quiet time. There are two bedrooms - one downstairs and with access to the guest toilet, and the other upstairs with a lovely spacious bathroom and a separate dressing room area.
Downstairs, the sitting room and living room areas offer incredible sea views. Patio doors lead out to a separate large patio area with a full set of great quality and very comfortable Jamie Oliver garden furniture overlooking the football pitch sized garden!
The sitting room is cosy and comfortable with couch and armchairs ideal for realxing and enjoying the views or cosying up in the evenings with the stove lighting. There is is small dining area with a table to seat four. The kitchen may be small, but it is well equipped (there is no dishwasher in the Cottage but there is pretty much everything else!). It too has a coffee making machine suitable for beans, pods and ground coffee.
There is plenty of off-road parking in the yard and alongside the house. A large patio area leads from the main house and also has a great Jamie Oliver garden furniture set and BBQ.
