Sweet Summertime on the Lake | Waterfront Modern Home

Summary:
Enjoy a summer escape at our Scandinavian Modern styled home! Steep yourself in warm breezes with bare feet swinging in the water. Relax on the front deck listening to the birds, nap on the marine grade dock hammock, & kick up your feet for an evening beverage under the screened porch fan. Have breakfast around the marble island & dinner grill-side at the outdoor dining table. Listen to classic record albums, take an afternoon swim, stream your favorite movie, stargaze, cast a line from your dock. However you choose to spend your day on the lake, its guaranteed you'll fall asleep with a greater sense of tranquility than when you arrived.

The Space:
Pull across the covered bridge into your parking area; Enter the home via keypad on the downstairs door.

Expansive downstairs entertainment space with bunk bed and half bath. The downstairs area has a Smart TV with YouTube TV (which operates just like cable!), streaming services, DVD player and lots of DVDs, a plush couch and loveseat for movie nights. You can also enjoy the screened porch with 4 comfortable outdoor chairs, lake views and breezes.

Walking up the open stairwell you'll enter the main area of the home with bucoos of windows to enjoy the gorgeous water view from the treetops. A private walkout balcony from the living room overlooks the lake below. A separate expansive deck with outdoor dining area is accessible off the kitchen. Unique salvaged elements throughout the house are part of what make it unique. There is a record player and classic records, a top grain leather sectional sofa perfect for cozying up with a book or for a long conversation. The large open room has arched ceilings, and an open concept feel. The kitchen features gorgeous granite countertops, beautiful locally harvested white ash open shelving, and a dine-in island with seating for 6.

You can access the laundry room from the great room, and walk down a hallway to the bedrooms. There are two airy bedrooms, each with lofted ceilings, screens on the windows, and ceilings fans. The queen beds with canopy frames are comfortable and plush, and each room is set up with a mirror and makeup area. The master suite features a full bathroom with tub/shower and modern floating shelf sink. The guest bath just outside both bedrooms offers a shower. We use Free & Clear Unscented laundry detergent on bedding and towels so our guests with sensitivities to perfumed products can breath easy.

From the house you can take the walking path down to the water. It's a bit steep so be sure to bring good shoes. There is an open shoreline with smooth slope into the water- perfect for relaxing by the water or kids playing in the shallows. The private cove is a wonderful place to fish or swim and avoid boat traffic. The water gradually increases in depth up to about 10' deep in the cove. The lake is a reservoir so speed boats are discouraged; it's generally very quiet on weekdays; while there are more activities on the main lake during the weekend it is still minimal compared to most lakes as only owners and renters area allowed access to the lake. We frequently are delighted to find that we are the lone boat on the water.

Guest Access:
Enter via the Covered Bridge. It's narrow so please go slow. Keypad on Basement Door to enter home.

The Neighborhood:
Neighbors are primarily feathered, finned or furry. There are other lakefront homes that are mostly second homes. The lake is private to homeowners and renters only. Please be respectful of noise as it carries on the lake.

Getting Around:
You'll need a car to get here (or Lyft / Uber).

Other Things to Note:
This is a natural setting; you may encounter wildlife, snakes or bugs; please leave them alone and they will tend to do the same.
Please do not throw debris or food scraps on the ground. This attracts unwanted pests, and sullies the enjoyment for future guests.

Interaction with Guests:
We want you to be able to settle into this home as if it was your own. We'll stay out of your way, but we're just a quick message away if you have questions about restaurants, events or the house, or if an unexpected issue arises.

We are happy to answer questions that you may have! Whether it's a hankering for a local cider, a scenic route for a bike ride on your road bike, or a memorable anniversary meal, we are happy to help you find the closest and best place to make that happen.

Communication between us and owner was excellent. There was information on the area attractions and dinner spots. There was also helpful information about the property as well. Loved this place. Would recommend to anyone.

Fantastic Stay - Highly Recommend!!!
Everything about the property was accurately described including the home's ambiance and natural surroundings. The house had plenty of supplies and was super clean upon arrival. Dylan provided excellent instructions and included plenty of information about the surrounding area. We had a great time and even saw a rainbow over the lake!

Fantastic cottage!
This is a really lovely home. I stayed for two weeks in Feb. The home is well equipped and exactly as it appears in the listing. It is a relaxing spot in a beautiful setting. If there is one small drawback, the gravel driveway is steep and narrow. I managed it fine with a Jeep Grand Cherokee but it is a bit tricky. I would definitely stay again. Thank you!

Place was great til the tropical storm hit!
We were very impressed with the property... It is wonderful, in a wonderful location and should have been perfect for our stay! The reason for the somewhat negative overall review was the landlord's total lack of effort to react in anyway positive to the power outage from Tropical Storm Ian. We were without power for 3.5 days in an all-electric building and all I got from the Landlord was "We are out of power too, here is the number for the electric company".. Now it is obvious that he was not at fault for the outage, but there were no candles, one dead flashlight, and quite honestly only three lamps in the house that were not hard wired. Even if we had had access to a generator, there would have been marginal light, no water(for showers or flushing) , and no Heat/AC, Had that been my property (and I do have rental property in Delaware) I would have been over with a generator and cables ASAP to make sure the refrigerator, pump, and lights were working. Midway during the outage I rented a hotel room in Yanceyville so my crew could take showers. There were also some issues with communication through Vrbo to me the leasee and information from the landlord never got to me in advance. Thankfully the landlord and I had hooked up via text and the information about check in and check was exchanged via text. One suggestion, post the size (width and height) of the covered bridge on the house's description. Some SUVs may not be able to be driven to the location due to the width of the covered area of the bridge particularly those with extended mirrors for trailering. .

This house has everything you need. I can't say enough good things about this place. Updated throughout the house. I felt like I was staying in a private hotel with all the touches they have. I would stay here again. The driveway was the only difficult part but we'll worth it.

A Nice Simple Getaway
The driveway is a little steep so I wouldn’t recommend driving any low-riding cars to this property. The outside is a little overgrown and there are a lot of bugs at night, but as long as you don’t open the doors often, letting them in, you’ll be fine. The inside of the lake house was very nice, roomy, and open. The theme is very fitting and creates a very relaxing space. The booster box helped a little bit but most of the time there was no cell connection. Which is no problem! There is tons to do at this cozy cabin. From the giant movie collection, relaxing with some board/card games, spending time on the balcony or screened in porch, to jumping off the dock and enjoying all the activities at the water, theres always something fun to do here. Everyone on the trip had a great time!

Fantastic, relaxing lake house
We had a wonderful time reconnecting & enjoying a laid back lakefront getaway. Poor cell service & an idyllic setting made for a very low key, restful trip! There was a mixup with the entry code, which was a brief hitch because the cell service is spotty. But we got that sorted and everything was great after that. The house is very cozy and has a very trendy decor, but the reclaimed wood ceiling did regularly shed paint chips upstairs. It wasn’t a big deal, but we did make use of the roomba to keep things swept up. We absolutely loved the dock, lake, deer frequenting the back field, the porches, records, just everything. We will definitely come again if we are in need of an unplug & unwind trip.

Weekend At the Lake
Great house with everything you need at the property (no WiFi though which was just what we were looking for). Lake is quiet with a dock perfect for launching kayaks. Enjoyed a couple of meals in the kitchen. Bedrooms good size. Towels/sheets/toiletries included. A few cobwebs in the corners and paint chips on the one bed from the rustic ceiling. Good access to the research triangle less than an hour away. Would stay again.
