Welcome to your luxury 3 bedroom & 2.5 bath hangar home with a billiard room on the Wolf Lake airstrip, just 20 minutes from Skeethawk Ski Area.
As you enter the home, you'll be greeted by a large, original painting by Alaskan artist Bill Brody. In front of you will be the well appointed kitchen equipped with all high-end appliances, as well as an instant pot with air fryer capabilities. Cook with some of the fresh herbs growing in the planters on the back deck. When in season, you'll find sage, rosemary, thyme, mint, chives, and parsley. You'll be provided with a sample of locally roasted coffee from Farm Loop Coffee and a complete Chemex brewing system. You can watch the planes taking off and landing from the kitchen windows.
The spacious, open living room has comfy leather couches, and a large TV with access to Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+. Relax and play a game of chess, or one of the many other board games. Read some of the provided books about Alaska and aviation, or play one of the instruments. We have a guitar, banjo, mandolin, or ukulele. The dining table has room for eight.
You can access the back deck from the living room where you can dine at the outdoor table, sit in the Adirondack chairs around the propane fire pit, or grab the yoga mats to do yoga in the open space of the deck. Meander into the lawn to relax in the hammock facing the airstrip, or play the provided badminton or croquet. You can also go for a walk along the airstrip.
Inside you'll find the billiard room at the end of the hall equipped with a Brunswick pool table, as well as a bar with barware and a mini fridge. Large windows in the billiard room look out onto the air strip.
All three bedrooms are outfitted with luxury cotton sheets, original art from an Alaskan artist, a charging station, a diffuser with essential oils, and a northern lights projector with a blue tooth speaker. The master bedroom has a gas fireplace to warm up on chilly nights, a 65" TV, as well as a large walk-in closet, and an en-suite bathroom with dual sinks and an overhead rain shower. The second bathroom has a smaller en-suite bathroom. The third bedroom is small & cozy and its occupants will need to access the shower in one of the other en-suite bathrooms.
All bathrooms come stocked with sustainable shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, body soap, and also lotion from a local Alaskan artisan. Full baths have a hairdryer for your use. Feel free to utilize the washer and dryer or iron and ironing board in the laundry room. You are welcome to leave the cleaning to us, but if you are interested in tidying up during your stay, you can use the whole house vacuuming system.
You'll have private access to the entire home, back deck, and back yard. You'll have shared access to the driveway. You won't have access to the garage or the hangar.
You may occasionally see people in the driveway, garage, or hangar. Though you can access to the entire driveway, you may share that space with other cars occasionally. If you have interest in accessing the hangar, please contact me to discuss.
You are free to reach out to me at any time for assistance or if you have questions about the home or the area.
Wolf Lake Airport House is located in a small subdivision right on Wolf Lake airstrip. Many of the homes in the area are hangar homes and many of the neighbors are pilots. The area is private and quiet, aside from the comings and goings of small planes and helicopters in the area.
The neighborhood is in a great central location between Palmer and Wasilla, and there are many breweries, restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques within driving distance.
Here are some distances to give you an idea:
8 miles to downtown Palmer (15 minutes)
8.4 miles to Wasilla (17 minutes)
45 miles to Anchorage (50 minutes)
A car is required to get around, and AWD is handy in the winter. You'll have a driveway with a few parking spots available to you.
We are on a well and septic tank, so please don't flush anything but toilet paper down the toilets.
The home is all on one level, but there are three steps down to access the billiard room, three steps to access the front entrance, and three steps between the back deck and the back lawn.
This home has two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and a half bath. The third bedroom is small & cozy, but doesn't have its own access to a shower. It's occupants will need to access the shower in one of the other en-suite bathrooms.
This home is right on the airstrip, so you will hear noise from airplanes taking off and landing in the neighborhood. The house has triple pane efficient noise reduction glass. However, you'll still hear some noise from the planes, both inside and outside of the home.
You may occasionally see people on the grounds utilizing the garage or hangar, providing snow plow or lawn services, or taking out the trash, though the house and back deck will be private.
This home is equipped with a device that monitors the environment inside the property (including noise levels, temperature, and motion) to ensure guests have a pleasant stay and our neighbors are not disturbed. There is no camera involved and it does not record sound.
This home sits on a working airport runway. You may walk on the airport taxiway but you are prohibited from being on any of the gravel, pavement or grass strips. All the grass on either side of the taxiway are active runways. Driving is prohibited on the runway.
