$300 PARKING for regular sized vans.
Part of my job is booking hotels for bands I tour with. So I've booked thousands of rooms over the past 20 years. I've never had an experience this terrible in ANY of my stays.
D.C. was in the middle of a snow storm when we arrived at the Comfort Inn Pentagon City at about 12:30am. I've stayed at many Comfort Inns in my life so I was shocked with the clerk told me they charged $300 to park our van in the lot.
After a heated exchange and checking in the 6 rooms we booked, I had to get back in the van, drive through the parking lot that had an endless supply of parking spots in the snow, and locate a parking spot somewhere else... in the freezing weather.
Although the clerk was doing her job and standing by the Comfort Inn's protocols, when there's a storm and the roads are dangerous to be on (especially late at night), it might be a good idea to step out of the box and be kind.
I hope it was worth it for the Comfort Inn because they just lost a regular customer for life... 8 of us.
Thankfully the hotel next door, The Hotel Pentagon had a clerk that saw the situation and gave me free parking, no problem.
And thankfully Expedia was helpful in trying to work it out for me.
