We'll be away visiting family over the summer, and we'd love for you to stay in our home while we're gone!
Our 2700 square-foot home is right in the heart of Hyattsville's Historic District, a charming, bustling, highly walkable, family-friendly gem just one mile from DC. Our home is within one block of two playgrounds, half a block from our beloved coffee shop, two blocks from the local brewery/restaurant, and a quick walk to a slew of restaurants and shops. 10-foot ceilings through much of the house give a spacious feel, and the five bedrooms (plus a big playroom with lots of beautiful toys!) make it an ideal spot for family gatherings.
Our home boasts five bedrooms and three full bathrooms. The master bedroom has a queen bed and bay windows. The second bedroom, where three of our kids sleep, has bunk beds and a toddler bed. The third, which doubles as a nursery, has a queen bed, a crib, and a changing table. The fourth, which is also upstairs, has a daybed which pulls out to king size, and it also has a desk and some bookshelves. The fifth bedroom is down on the main floor and is outfitted with a queen bed.
The first bedroom is attached to the master bedroom. It has a toilet, a shower, and a tub. The second bathroom, also upstairs, also has a toilet, a shower, and a tub. The third bathroom, which is down on the main floor, has a toilet and a shower.
In addition to the bedrooms and bathrooms, there is a spacious living room (PLEASE NOTE: There is NO TV in the house! We do, however, have a projector and projector screen which you'd be very welcome to set up!). There's a dining room with a big wooden table and a kitchen which was fully renovated in 2020. Off the kitchen, there's a big playroom with lots of beautiful toys. There's also a small office with a small desk on the main floor. Finally, down in the basement, there's a washer and a dryer, so you're welcome to do laundry during your stay. There's also a stationary bike and a kettle bell down there.
The whole house has central air and heating, and there's WIFI throughout. There's a fenced-in backyard with two playhouses, a fire pit (bring your own wood!), a table, and chairs.
PLEASE NOTE BEFORE BOOKING: The whole of the main floor and upstairs will be yours during your stay. HOWEVER, we have two permanent tenants who live in the basement. The door from the basement upstairs, however, locks on your side, and they do not have access to your space. Indeed, you will likely never run into them, except possibly in the backyard or if you happen to be doing laundry at the same time. They are, however, lovely (they're both graduate students, named Michael and Robert, and are very quiet and polite). They have been downstairs through many a rental, and there's never been any issues whatsoever: again, the vast majority of renters never know they're down there, and the ones who bump into them have a pleasant interaction or two in the laundry room, and that's it. If you have any questions about them, though, please feel free to contact us!
ALSO PLEASE NOTE: The photos on this listing all give a sense for the space, but because this is our home, many of the details change from time to time: as kids get older, as items suffer from wear and tear, and as the Thrift Store Gods smile upon us and bestow on us treasures we couldn't possibly refuse, some of the furniture and other items get swapped out or rearranged. So don't be surprised if some of the details aren't exactly as they are in the photos--but, again, the basics are all accurately represented!
