Warwick weekend
Main reason for the stay was Warwick Castle and the Lord Leycester was within a stones throw. Location was excellent and staff friendly. We had the family room which comprised of 2 separate bedrooms, (I thought we would be crammed into 1 room), nice surprise. Breakfast was good the only downside was the décor. The hall was a bit musty and the window in the room was held closed with yellow and black tape. That said for the price and location I would certainly recommend.

Historic and simple
We had a pleasant stay mostly due to the opportunities offered by the nice town Warwick (Shops, Castle). Since the Lord Leycester Hotel is a historic house we were prepared to cope with some comfort drawbacks. Positive features are the free car park, friendly and helpful staff, and an atmospheric bar. Less recommendable are the acoustic properties of the rooms. Some of the electric devices don't work (TV). The availablity of warm shower water is not predictable. The rooms were not as clean as we liked them to be.

Not really a Family room
Was supposed to be a family room but only contained 1 double bed and no more room for another. Had to sleep 3 adults in 1 bed!

large comfy bed
The room was adequate, the bed was nice & big and comfortable. The hot water pipe for the other rooms beyond ours ran through the room causing it to feel hot as if the radiator was on. We requested a fan to try and cool things down and did eventually get one. No other complaints.

If you need a room and don't care ...
The hotel was old and we give allowance for that, but to say the floor not level is an understatement. In the bathroom the floor sloped so badly it was difficult to get in and out of the tub and even sit on the toilet. It took forever to get hot water out of the tap, and someone needs to explain the overly complicated shower arrangement. The tub had several chips out of it as well. It's also a bit strange to have the sink out in the bedroom area, and it was hard to get around the bed because the room was so cramped. The room had no air conditioning and the windows wouldn't stay open, but there was no way to sleep with the windows open because its on the main road that is exceptional busy. Honestly closing the window didn't make much difference because they are so old. There is no wifi in the room, you have to go down to the lobby area to use Internet. The price was good, but honestly unless you are looking for a place to just spend a quick overnight, avoid this hotel. We just needed an overnight place to crash on the way to our next stop, but we certainly wouldn't stay there again.

Not as bad as they say
Despite all the bad reviews, we went with this hotel. Yes, it's a little rough round the edges, but there is excellent, accommodating staff, comfy rooms and a fantastic location. You are 2 mins away from the castle and some amazing eating spots. If you can bear the scruffy edges its a lovely place and we really enjoyed our stay.

Proximity to castle is all it has going for it!!!
How on earth this hotel can be classed as a 3 star is mind boggling! Surely it is a 1 star?? The room was absolutely freezing so we made sure we went out as early as possible to avoid spending too much time in the hotel. We did enquire at reception as to why the heating wasn't working and to be fair there was an electric heater waiting outside our room when we returned. However, one heater to heat 2 rooms (as we had a family suite) and no heat at all in the bathroom wasn't exactly adequate. There was also insuffient bedding provided and we all had a chilly disturbed sleep. This is the first time ever that I have not had a shower in a hotel as the shower curtain and general feel in the bathroom was just too disgusting!! We couldn't wait to escape and declined any breakfast in the hotel, opting to wander into town for something. As we were here specifically to visit the castle, there is no denying that it is ideally located for such a visit but at too great a cost. So unless you don't have an issue with slumming it then AVOID at all costs!!!!

Major advantage is sufficient off street parking. The hotel has had a bit of a makeover recently, and breakfast is freshly cooked and really rather good. The central heating rarely works, but heaters are provided in the rooms. In general good value.

Demolish this hotel in my opinion !
I honestly don't know where to start with the review of this dump. Staying in room 129 for one night ahead of the British Heart Foundation 1/2 marathon in March 2013. Upon arrival having used a shoe horn to get my car into the car park, reception is an over crowded single seat desk, with a sign saying I am away. I managed to find someone to check in and got my key. Through the winding corridors that resembled faulty towers, I eventually found the room. You open the door with a physical key, no problem with this, but you lock it with a yale door lock, no chain and one that I think was made in 1810. I took one look at the room and went back to reception to ask for either another room or an upgrade. Having been told that they were full, I had no choice to stay in the pit of a space they call a double standard. To catalouge the issues will be easier: - Blood on the radiator - A window in the bathroom that didnt shut or lock at all - Blood on the head board - Rust in the bath - Bathroom door frame coming away from the wall - Bathroom floor filthy with hair - Luggage rack hanging off the wall - TV that doens't work properly - A kettle with more lime scale in it than sand on a beach - Ripped bed sheets - Exposed pipes As if the above wasn't bad enough there was a party on downstairs that room 129 is directly above. From 8pm to 12.10am the baseline thumped out music. I called reception twice to ask when it was finishing to be told two different time.

horribe
I was staying there for a night and the service was quite gd. Staff are nice. But no hot water for shower, no heating when it's snowing outside. A massive spider on the ceiling. And the most horrible thing is the water is brown from the tap! And I literally didn't sleep for the whole night and staying in the bar until 3.30am!

we stayed on a room only basis. the hotel was a great price for its location. close to the castle and a short walk from the high st with its bars and restaurants or the market square in the other direction. free parking on site is always a plus as well. if you like indian food be sure to go to warwick spice on smith street.

A bit rough around the edges...
Our hotel room was clean and the service was good, but there was a lot of 'patching up'' that had gone on in the decoration of the bathroom. In the night I turned on the cold tap and the water was boiling hot, no matter how long I ran the tap for. I called reception and they provided iced drinking water straight away. Bed was comfy, being an old building it was rather noisy though and I didn't get a great night's sleep.

Close to Warwick centre - need of maintenance
The leycester is very convenient for Warwick, however, the decor is dated - rooms are poorly maintained. I had the room changed as the furniture was falling apart, TV did not work and room looked dated. The new room was better, but just marginally, the TV cables were loose, drafty window and the cold water did not work in the bathroom.

Good hotel for the price
Given the reasonable price the hotel was certainly decent. Room was a good size although the decor is very dated and the service was good. Breakfast was expensive but arrived quickly and was nice. The hotel is very well located and has guests parking which was very useful. Internet access in the rooms would've been appreciated, however wireless is avaialble in the lounge area. Generally would stay there again if back in the area

Great hotel for family visiting Warwick Castle
The building is old and a tad shabby, but the staff was very nice and helpful, the room was big and comfortable (we had a family room, which consisted of two rooms and two bathrooms), and the towels were big, soft, and plentiful. Best of all, for our purposes, the hotel had a car park and was easy walking distance to Warwick Castle and is right in the middle of town, close to shops and restaurants.

Disappointed
We stayed here in the middle of a 4week holiday and we were very disappointed with this hotel. There was a lot of street noise making it difficult to sleep. The rooms were hot and stuffy even with the window open. The breakfast was very expensive and the hot breakfast was particularly tasteless. The proximity to Warwick Castle was a plus.

Not if you want hat water in your room
We stayed at the Lord Leycester Hotel for 5 nights. There was no hot water in the bathroom during our stay. We were given the key to other rooms in which there was hot water but for most of the time, this involved going up two floors to the other end of the building. Definitely not a satisfactory solution to the problem.
