If you want the busy social lifestyle of Waikiki, this is not the place for you. HOWEVER, if you are looking for a quiet retreat right on the beach, this place is perfect!
The house is clean, open, and inviting, and you can't beat the proximity to the beach. We kept our windows open to hear the surf. The sand just beyond the backyard was just about private. We sat every morning either on the covered porch or out at the edge of the yard with our morning coffee, watching the waves (and the whales in the distance!). In the evenings, when it wasn't too cloudy, the sunsets were stunning.
Reyna was a fabulous hostess. Her instructions were clear, and checking in and out was effortless.
The town is roughly 35-45 minutes from Honolulu proper because of the low highway speeds, but as I said, that didn't bother us. We were able to spend plenty of time visiting the rest of the island and still had lots of time to relax at the house. We highly recommend walking 3/4 mile up the street to Aki's Beach, where we were able to see a couple of sea turtles basking in the sun.
The VRBO had everything we needed, down to a first aid kit (those volcanic rocks on the beach are sharp!) and a Keurig with K-cups.
If we ever make it back to Hawai'i, we would definitely stay here again.
