The room was beautiful and relaxing. I wanted to spend time there! Everything seemed well thought out so the small details made it quite a special experience. The bed and linens were great, the fruit was lovely, and the coffee/tea with the table set was welcoming. I could warm up quickly if it got chilly, and the private patio with rocking chairs was a nice way to enjoy coffee at dawn.
Great spot! Will be back.
Everything was amazing. If I was nit picking, walls are a tad thin between the bathrooms. We could hear our neighbor a few times. Everything else was lovely.
A nice place, but limited check in times.
Property a bit remote.
.
Room a bit damp,,, so had to use dehumidifier (which wasn’t on the hotel description!!!!!).
Not high on the list to return to.

Liked: Property conditions & facilities
Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The heater did not work in our room. One bed was too cold to sleep in. The other one had electric heating pads.
We put a beach towel from their spa on the ground in our bathroom after use. It was hung up on a hook the second day.
Coffee wasn't restocked on the second day.
Check-in was also unpleasant, but another innkeeper made up for it.
Wi-Fi was barely working as they advertised.
Overall - does not worth $700 per night.
I heard they might have changed owners. Someone who had lived here in 2018 told me the owners at the time were an elder couple from SF who went back for better retirement life (better hospitals in SF). Not sure if that's the case. I did not get to meet their lead innkeeper or owner.
Best place we stayed at during our 10-day trip to the big island, without question. Staff was courteous and extremely helpful. Cottage was amazing. Wish we had been able to stay another night. We will definitely be returning at some point in the future.
Beautiful romantic setting tucked away in the rainforest. Quiet and cozy. A pit pricey. I’d include a bottle of wine or cocktail hour with wine and cheese and snacks.

This is a very unique property, and we enjoyed that aspect as well as the proximity to the park but I am not sure we would stay there again.
The fan was quite noisy.
The lights were not working in the room with the double bed.
It would have been nice to have sheets for the mattress in the attic.
The breakfast could have been much better, why not at least have cereal in the rooms rather than calling this a snack leaving us to pick it up from damp containers outside the lodge?
we stayed a couple of nights at this incredible location. Close the the park but really quiet and secluded. Room was great, Breakfast amazing. Recommend this to anyone wanting a bit of peace and quiet.. Thanks for your hospitality
What a magical place! We felt as if we were camping in a rainforest. The owners, Peter and Kathleen, and the staff couldn't have been more hospitable. They made us feel right at home. The architecture of the cottages perfectly suited the rainforest setting. Highly recommended!

I spent a few days at Volcano Village on my way from Hilo to Kona. It was the PERFECT place to stop on my journey of the island. From the moment I arrived I felt like I was home. A peaceful relaxing oasis in the rain forest! Minutes away from Volcano National Park I was able to visit the park during the day and also in the evening when you clearly see the lava lake. Kelsea gave me directions to a Black Sand Beach 30 minutes South of the property. The snorkeling and privacy at the beach was like nothing I've ever experienced! This property is a must for anyone visiting The Big Island.

My wife and I stayed in the Hale Kilauea suite a few months back. The place is breathtaking. I love the rainforest. The bird calls and the sound of nature were so relaxing. We'll visit again for sure. I've been to Hawaii several times before and never discovered this gem. We also escaped the scorching heat! It's very cool and refreshing there I guess due to the high elevation. If you go don't miss out on the lava tubes and seeing the volcano!
