A sunny, spacious home base for exploring the many delights of the Viroqua area! This historic 4-bedroom home is a quiet haven in the midst of our vibrant downtown. Located just steps from Wonderstate Coffee, the farmer's market, and other main street attractions, you'll be close to everything you need while feeling like you're tucked away in a quiet cottage somewhere, with plenty of space to spread out and recharge during your stay.
A bright, clean, and thoughtfully curated place of respite awaits you at the guesthouse. Comfortable, luxurious beds with natural linens, newly remodeled bathrooms, an abundance of both weird and beautiful art, sunny rooms filled with plants, and pollinator gardens buzzing with bees to lounge in make the Guesthouse the perfect choice for the more thoughtful traveller.
The Guesthouse is inspired by the many beautiful European-style guest houses we have stayed at on our own travels and is a creative culmination of many years of both being and hosting guests. We created this space specifically to be the home away from home we have personally wished for many times ourselves while on the road! We are one of the original Viroqua bnbs, so come experience a time-tested space enjoyed by many guests before you!
Guests have their pick of 4 different second-floor bedrooms, with the ability to sleep 7 all together via king, queen, full, and twin beds. There are also two full baths - one on each floor - a fully stocked kitchen, living area, and indoor back porch for lounging. There is an absolutely lovely front porch and back deck for enjoying an outdoor meal, with a fully fenced in yard, kids' playhouse, and fire pit area. When we say there's room to spread out, we mean it!
Things To Note!
* The master bedroom and two small bedrooms are connected to the HVAC system, so if you have members of your party particularly sensitive to temperature when they sleep, you'll want to place them in one of these. The back porch room, everyone's favorite, is 3-season and not connected to the heating/cooling systems of the house, but with fans in the summer and extra blankets in the cold season, OR if you love to sleep particularly warm in the summer or cool in the winter, this is your spot!
* For those with certain sensitivities, we use all natural cleaning products for regular cleans in the house and provide natural-fiber linens, including cotton quilts and down duvets.
* We do not provide bath toiletries, so be sure to pack your own.
* Though we do have highspeed internet, there is not a television or other digital entertainment system provided in the house. We seek to provide a space more conducive to respite, focus, connection, and creativity and often attract folks looking for more of a retreat experience. All to say: be sure to bring your laptop if you want to relax with some quality Netflix time during your stay!
* The upper floors of the house are our guest space, and though there is a basement, know that we don't prepare it for guests in any way.
* Unfortunately, our home is not currently wheelchair accessible, and one must climb a flight of stairs to reach the bedrooms. Additionally, the house is not baby and toddler-proof.
* Your hosts live a few miles outside of town, and are usually available should you need us at any point during your stay. If you prefer an in-person check-in to get you oriented, let me know and we can possibly arrange for that. Otherwise, you will be on your own during your stay, checking in with our lockbox at your leisure.
The Guesthouse has been closed for the past few years -- first due to the pandemic and then during renovations. If you've stayed with us before and are noting the changes, know that we no longer live in the residence and that guests now have access to the entire house, including all four bedrooms! We have updated many things to make your stay even more comfortable, including two recently finished full bathroom renovations.
