"What can I say , the owners went above and beyond, as were the rest of the staff very welcoming and really made me feel as if I was home . Both dinner and breakfast were excellent . My room was superb , it was quiet and comfortable. I was worried about the proximity to the motorway , My room was on the back of the hotel, but even on the front side you could not hear the road with the windows shut, and it was just background noise with them open, and the views from the front side are amazing. But it was the atmosphere, friendliness and attention to detail that made it for me . I would recommend this hotel to anyone, and I will definitely be back "

"I mean the main reason to stay here is the proximity to all things Leica, however it’s a nice place on its own. Special shout to Omid in Oskar’s for being so great. Would love to come back again. "

"The hotel looks like a tiny hamlet of old farm buildings which have recently been renovated. A definite rustic feel to it. Parking is 100 m in front of the hamlet. Hotels.com failed to list this hotel as having a restaurant. As such I ate junk food on the way to the hotel, only to find the perfect restaurant for me. I made space for a delicious salmon salad and wonderful glass of Riesling! The room was good and I slept very well. The only missing utility which I always need as a business traveller, was a desk. I suspect, this would also effect females needing a dressing table. I was shown an alternative room with a tiny glass table. Anyway, it didn't spoil my stay. Wonderful staff. Not too expensive. Great hotel and I would definitely stay again."

"Wir hatten zahlreiche Ferienwohnungen anlässlich unserer Rundreise durch Deutschland. Manche waren enttäuschend, einige waren so gut, dass wir dachten dies sei der beste Standard. Die Sandmühle hat neue Standards gesetzt. Ein Hof im besten hessischen Fachwerkstil, eine Wohnung mit schweren Balken, die die Decke, leicht kurvig halten, moderne Doppelglasfenster im alten Stil, ein Mix aus modernster Küche mit buchstäblich ALLEM, gemischt mit einer Möbelausstattung aus zwei Jahrhunderten und den bequemsten Betten mit Tempurschaumliegefläche. Ein Bad mit grosszügiger Dusche PLUS Badewanne, eine separate Waschstube mit Waschmaschine und Trockner (kostenfreie Benutzung!), ein grosses Wohnzimmer mit geschmackvoller Mischung von alten Möbeln mit einem modernen Sofa. Knarzende Holzdielen mit perfekter Oberfläche, das Ganze luftig und hell. 2 Aussensitze für die, die entweder die Sonne oder den Schatten suchen. Blumen und Grünpflanzen rundum, Hofkatzen, die zu Besuch kommen, Eine natürliche Umgebung, die Frieden ausstrahlt. Ein Begrüssungstrunk hessischen Biers im Kühlschrank, eigene Hofeier und gute selbstgeschöpfte Butter zur Begrüssung. Die Familie Ochs hat hier ein Paradies geschaffen und es fällt schwer wieder abzufahren! Das einzige, was es aus unserer amerikanischen Sicht noch zu ergänzen gäbe, wäre der Komfort einer Klimaanlage. Aber das wäre auch ein wenig pervers - es sei denn sie wäre solar stromversorgt.
