On this portion, several alternatives are available to you:
> from Montsoreau, one of the "Most Beautiful Villages of France", in the direction of Saumur, the "Pearl of Anjou", you pedal, sometimes on your own site along the Loire, sometimes on a shared route, on the hillside, enjoying thus incredible panoramas, in the heart of the famous vineyard of the AOC "Saumur-Champigny". Over 15 km, you will cross no less than 5 Loire valley troglodyte and wine-growing villages on this Saharan coast: Montsoreau, Turquant, Parnay, Souzay-Champigny and Dampierre-sur-Loire.
> from Montsoreau, a section on the borders of Anjou, Touraine and Poitou allows you to reach Fontevraud and its Royal Abbey then continue through fields and forests to the Center Parcs du Domaine du Bois aux Daims.
> from Saumur, you can continue on the right bank, over a car-free portion of 16 km to reach Les Rosiers-sur-Loire, as close as possible to the royal river or left bank for around twenty kilometers towards Saint-Rémy-la-Varenne where you will then cross several "Small Cities of Character", between the banks of the Loire and a wooded hillside: Le Thoureil and Chênehutte-Trèves-Cunault. Along the way, also discover the numerous Gallo-Roman vestiges of Gennes or the preserved biotopes of the Joreau pond.
You can enjoy here, within the Loire-Anjou-Touraine Regional Natural Park, splendid panoramas, unspoiled, protected and valued nature, remarkable flora and fauna. Observe the many islands that line the route and the birds that nest there. Admire the exceptional heritage: castles, old stately homes, mansions or simple lodgings, mainly erected in tufa stone and covered with slates. You are in the land of troglos: open your eyes wide to admire all these cavities from which the tuffeau has been extracted for several centuries; some are now inhabited, others fitted out as visiting sites (wine cellars, mushroom houses, tapped apples), restaurants, nightclub, hotels: take a break and discover the rich past of these places! Also observe the flat-bottomed boats typical of our region: the huts, cabins, futreaux or other gabarres, after a golden age in the 18th century, are back in service: water coches, themed cruises and even ... bed and breakfast .. .!
