"We had - 14 of us, 11 adults three children - a really good week at Borgo Alto. The location is stunning and the space is great. As a former hotel, the accommodation is a bit odd for a big family group - with separate rooms in different buildings, but it worked well. The only thing it lacks is a comfortable lounge area. Mariangela had amazing communication and went above and beyond with answering any questions we had. "The Villa is great and is set in the most wonderful garden with a lovely large pool. Check in was smooth and Enzo very helpful. Midweek delivery of croissants was very appreciated especially as the nearest shop is a good 20 min walk and taxis are expensive. The sunset water taxi from the local restaurant to Ortigia was amazing (approx 15€ each) There is a bus stop outside the villa but finding out where it goes wasn’t easy. Several other restaurants nearby and a beautiful beach (with beach bar)...

"Really nicely furnished apartment equipped with everything you need. Very nice and big terrace as well! Rustic interior which gives it an authentic feel. Only negative thing was that the WiFi did not work during our stay. We tried asking the host but were just told to ‘go out and try in the garden’. "The property itself is very small but for two people it's perfect. Open plan with a little somewhat steep staircase up to the bedroom area. We like to be off the beaten track and this just right for us, the private courtyard (that includes the shower/washing machine) was a good size with multiple seating options available. Use of the families pool with views for miles including mount Etna was wonderful. Enzo was always available if needed, the Wifi wasn't working initially but he got it...

"We LOVED our stay in Ortigia. The location of the apartment was ideal. Our host was charming and quite simply outstanding. Sebastiano made us feel welcome and at home. He provided an excellent orientation to the apartment, recommended an exceptional assortment of fine restaurants and helped ensure that we enjoyed our stay. He was always available and quick to assist in any eventuality including the loss of a credit card. We arrived as his guests and left as friends."

"The Mori House is nicely remodeled, and very clean! It is a five minute walk to Catania Picanello train station, and three minute walk to a small grocery store and Tris Bar, which offers all snacks/meals. It is a forty minute walk into the historic center of Catania. The neighborhood is old and a bit run down, but safe. The property manager is excellent, providing quick and helpful responses to all communications. "

We got the impression that the owner may have been burned by previous renters as he was very insistent on points that most VRBO hosts would just leave in a note on the table in the room. "Full of character (with a museum in the basement). Close to restaurants and other sights (the cathedral/museums etc...). Self catering in rooms is basic - better to eat out. About 120 Euro taxi ride from Catania airport. Reception is not 24/7 so arriving out of hours needs some advance planning. Reception staff are very helpful. Ortigia itself is tiny and you can walk everywhere. Don't forget your afternoon siestas. "

"Friendly staff, nice apartment, access to a communal terrace, right in the centre of Catania. Just a shame we were attacked by many mosquitoes keeping us awake every night."

"Check in was a nightmare. Family was supposed to meet host at airport with a cot - but he was no where to be found. Directions to villa were very scattered but finally arrived met by housekeeper and shown around the villa. It was old and in need of some updating but very comfortable for our party of 10. Beds and bathroom were very clean and comfortable. Pool was lovely although it was still warm enough to swim in the sea. All in all a wonderful holiday."

Loved it!

"Siracusa has been the highlight of our 10 days in Sicily so far and Algilà Ortigia was a great place to visit. Staff was friendly and several went out of their way to be helpful. We are good walkers and could walk to all parts of Ortigia, the island you want to stay on, and be there within 15 minutes. We had a junior suite that was large with several separate areas. Full service breakfast was good, not great. Bed was very big but not the most comfortable Despite these minor things, all four of us loved the hotel and location "

"The staff were wonderful. Check in and out was quick and easy. We had maintenance people come quickly for a problem with our refrigerator and toilet. The breakfast was outstanding. The lobby is beautiful. The property is a bit aged and needs some updating. "
