The property location and layout is very good ... right on the Camino de Santiago. I stayed their in 2008 and again in October 2024. This time I found the beds to be very uncomfortable (matress was extreamly soft / broken springs maybe) and need to be replaced. The receptionist was covering several possitions in the hotel and as a result was not always available at reception. We could have been advised about the excellent Pilgrim’s Menu (only €15) on check-in but instead was advised we would have to pay an extra €10 if we wanted breakfast. Service was excellent for our Pilgrim's Meal (Thank you). However, I was not impressed with the service we got the following morning (2nd Oct). Firstly we were told they did not serve crossaints in the bar (we just wanted coffee / tea and a crossaint for breakfast). They were available in the breakfadt area. The bar person rudely interupted me while I was having a conversation with another guest (Pilgrim) in the breakfast area. I do not speak Spanish, and I also need glasses to read. She seemed to have no patience and looked like she was upset with me. I asked her to give me a moment. The small crossaints were not fresh. Shortly afterwards, the receptionist came down to the bar and explained we were not allowed to eat in the bar. I said we were finished and we paid our bills. I found the whole experience bizarre. I dont want to blame staff, but there was no sight of management anywhere. I feel the staff need to be given a bit of direction
