The location of this condo is fantastic. 15 minute walk to the beach, 10 minute walk to all that downtown Ventura has to offer, and there's a grocery store on the same block.
The secure parking in the underground garage gives peace of mind while the best of California's homeless population is camping outside the gates.
Being from the Mid-West, I did not know what an "art loft style condo" is or was. The dictionary was no help. The host makes it clear that this is an art loft style condo, and perhaps it is, so familiarize yourself with whatever that means in Southern California.
This is not, however, a comfortable stay. The furniture is sparse, almost austere. The kitchen is ample, but the pots, pans, knives, and utensils reminded me of my college bachelor pad. A shopping trip by the host to Ikea would work wonders. I kept cooking to a minimum, but eventually bought my own pan, blender, kettle, and knives. The dishes and cooking utensils that were there were sticky and all required washing before use. There were no hand towels in either bathroom, so I bought my own. Two bath towels rounded out the linens. No spare linens for the bed, and I had to wash the sheets the night I arrived before sleeping.
No curtains, drapes, or blinds. There is a building with second story windows and balcony that look directly into the condo's bedroom and living room, but it appeared to be empty during my stay. When I was working nights, sleeping past sunrise was impossible. The "dresser" in the bedroom is more decorative than useful, so for a month I lived out of my suitcase. I travel for a living, so I'm used to it, but it made me wonder if the person choosing the furnishings had ever stayed in a "regular" house.
All this said, I had a pleasant, although uncomfortable, stay. Do not come here with kids that aren't good with female nudity, as most of the artwork is of nude females. Do not stay here with more than two people, there is no where for a temporary guest to sleep. Do not plan to cook much, and don't feed the homeless, which are everywhere in SoCal.
