Very old school hotel. Could use a decor update in the rooms (so much fabric activated our dust allergies). However the staff were excellent, very kind and super helpful. Excellent location as well. Would recommend.

great spot
Corte Contarina is a comfortable hotel in an excellent location if you're in town for the Biennale - just off the lively Via Garibaldi but super quiet and far from the crowds of tourists. The Arsenale is minutes away and the Giardini aren't much farther afield. There is also a Coop and a pharmacy minutes away for any last-minute needs, plus a gelateria that stays open late! Room was very clean and staff was helpful and clear. I only wish breakfast had been a bit nicer, and didn't love needing to sign up for a time slot (which sometimes filled up!) the night before.

Super sejour
Nous avons passé un excellent séjour. La proximite de l’hotel de la place St Marc et du centre pouvait nous faire craindre des nuisances sonores, PAS DU TOUT. L’hôtel est situé à environ 100m en retrait dans une petite rue tres calme. Il est tres bien equipé, chaque chambre est climatisee, tres propre, le menage est tres bien fait, un refrigerateur est â disposition dans la chambre avec des boissons fraiches à un prix plus que raisonnable. Les petits dejeuners sont copieux. Le personnel est chaleureux et courtois. Bref un hotel à recommander fortement.

Grundsätzlich erwarte ich für den Preis nicht besonders viel. Das was wir allerdings dafür bekommen, hätte ich nicht gezahlt, hätte ich gewusst was ich dafür bekomme. Von dem Frühstück wurde man nicht satt, man hatte pro Person nur 1,5 kleine Brötchen bekommen. Sauber war es leider nicht, es lagen Haare vom Vorgast auf den Sanitärbereichen und den Böden. Außerdem hatten wir einen Gekko im Zimmer, der immer wieder aus einem Loch in der Wand über unserem Bett herauskam. Das war sehr, sehr unangenehm. Für dieses Zimmer würde ich nicht nochmal bezahlen. Wir hatten außerdem ein Sparzimmer bekommen, was laut Grundriss des Hotels (mit den eingezeichneten Notausgängen), eines der kleinsten Zimmer war. Man konnte sich im Zimmer nicht frei bewegen. Die Dusche z.B. musste man öffnen, um sich bis zu den Beinen und Füßen bücken zu können. Auf die Nachfrage nach einem neuen Zimmer, haben wir keines bekommen, da alles scheinbar voll belegt war. Von Hotels aus dem Expedia Portfolio erwarte ich etwas besseres und bin besseres gewohnt. Ich hoffe sie nehmen diese Kritik für die Zukunft mit. Vielen Dank und VG Jana Gusev

Perfekt beliggenhet
Flott gammelt hotel m 22 rom. Ligger i en bakgate men perfekt beliggende mellom Arsenale og Giardini båtstopp. Utenfor turistløypa. Men allikevel verdens vakreste gåtur på 12 min til Markusplassen. Stille og vakkert lokalområdet, men mange restauranter, parker og tre min til Biennaleområdet. Kan ikke bli bedre. God service, stort rom i gammeldags stil med gull, glasslysekroner og mahogni, hard seng. God frokost. Det perfekte hotel for deg som ikke vil bo på Markusplassen. Og det er det faktisk ingen grunn til !

An old beauty
when I arrived to check in I was told there was a problem with the water and I was to stay the night in a nearby hotel. The lovely porter took my suitcase to the new hotel which turned out to be a disappointment. Very small room at the top of a four story building, with no lift. Was glad to actually get back to Corte Contarina the next afternoon. Found my luggage had been collected and was in my room on the 2nd floor. Again, no lift, but the room turned out to be so delightful I didn’t mind all the stairs. Obviously had been a very special hotel at some stage and although a bit run down now, it still showed all the old class. Room was spacious with lovely wooden beams in the ceiling, attractive antique furniture, a decent big bed, in room safe, minibar and big wardrobe. Bathroom had been modernised a little and was roomy enough but the shower was pretty small. Everything was clean and all the amenitities were there. Breakfast didn’t have a lot of variety but everything was fresh and well presented. Even got a little rubbish bin on the table for scraps. Wifi, like all the internet I used in Italy was patchy with a weak signal Great street with a super market lots of restaurants a lovey big park and 5 mins walk from Giardini boat stop. Would definitely stay again if I ever get back to Venice.
