Good Value, Quiet and Accessibe
Modest but very elegant small hotel very accessible to train station and Pze. Roma bus terminus. Property very quiet inside and out. Clean and well maintained. Breakfast modest but perfectly adequate. Wifi difficult to access, due to temperamental log in, but fast once connected. Excellent value, and recommended.

Hotel good for purpose. Breakfast was basic
Hotel was good for purpose, close to where we needed to be. Staff were helpful. The only disappointment was the breakfast, limited choice, no fruit or cooked breakfast, no fresh juice for those who don't drink hot drinks. Had to ask for croissants and pastries which were hidden behind and rationed to where I had to ask for more than one.

Good location Nice decor
Although it says air conditioning, our room was hotter than the 28 degrees outside. We opened windows in hopes of a cross breeze. We asked to have the a/c turned up and were told it worked and not to open the windows. The lady was nice enough to come check. She said it would be ok when we came back in the evening...it was better but not cool. Made for a sleepless night.

Very Nice Hotel for Single Traveler
Close to train station about a 2 min walk and a beautiful 10 min walk to St. Mark's Square. Single room came with double bed and shower in room. Not too small, very comfortable and relatively quiet. Would book again

Simply EXCELLENT
Very attentive and friendly staff. Everything was working (not usual for the old city of Venice) The shower has hydro massage, very nice perk. The water does not overflow while you are in shower (again, very unusual fro Venice) Comfortable beds, nice heating (!!) very quiet. The reception staff reminds guests who have to leave very early and start talking in general area that other guests are still sleeping. Very thoughtful of them to do so. I travel a lot and in all hotels cleaning talks very loudly and nobody cares. They are doing an excellent job and on my next visit to Venice I will definitely come back to Caretoni (if they do not increase their price significantly.) It was my 11th visit to Venice and I never returned to any of the hotels because none was excellent. So far, Caretoni IS. Keep doing such an excellent job. I traveled with two friends - one friend was in Caretoni, we occupied two separate single rooms and the other lady stayed nearby in other hotel. So we could compare one more time. Even though they do not advertise it, Wifi worked more or less OK in the room (they only tell you they have it in the reception area.) We had more than we expected.

Good location but old fashioned
The location was great, a few seconds walk from the train station which is what I wanted. Nice vibe and restaurants around the area. The hotel was basic, the room clean but old fashioned. The bathroom was tiny and the door to the loo right next to the bed. The shower jets did not work and you could not use the hairdryer, it was like a hose that mildly blew out warm air, not possible to dry your hair. Quite a basic requirement for a hotel is to have a hairdryer that works. No tea making facilities, just a basic room.

Disappointment
The only strength of this hotel is its location to the rail terminal station. Though the ic claimed to provide full breakfast, the spread was miserable - only bread, jam and coffee / tea. When it flooded in Venice, others had platforms to link up to the 'bridge' in the middle of the path while the lady at the counter simply gave you that 'can't help you' kind of look and asked you to walk bare-footed across. Given so many hotels in the same area, I would say their service is really POOR and one can definitely get a better hotel of similar pricing with staff who can lend a helping hand in situation like this.

Good enough but do not expect luxury or comfort
Well located near the terminal. Much activity even till midnight hours that you will enjoy but not to worry, with windows closed, can't hear a thing.. Average to small toilet with minimal amenities and a pain to work up the stairs. Great service for breakfast. Otherwise the price, its a decent hotel to stay.

Most unreliable hotel for reservation
I tried to use this hotel for 3 diferent nights with interval dates while my stravelling in Europ. When I checked out the hotel on the first stay, I put the second reservation leaving my big two luggages in the hotel for 4 days later my coming back and the reservation was confirmed. But when I came back to the hotel, they asked ridiculous price for more poor room in different building even they are hanging "Vacancy" sign on front. It was week end and I had no choice to move out the hotel carrying huge luggages. They asked cash payment and no credit card accepted. How poor hotel this is!

great location near trainstation santa lucia(3min), bunk bed in a very small room, dirty towels
The location of this hotel was great, the hotel looked clean and pretty ok. We had the bunkbed(it didn't look really solid)room, the room was really really small, the airconditioning made our room like a freezer(we couldn't turn it off), it was really cold in the night. The female at the bar looked helpfull, but was not helpfull at al!! We asked for a nice place to eat, and she sent us to a really really bad restaurant called trattoria S. Zullan. We only went to venice for 1 day and we wanted to eat at a nice place, but she kind of ruined it for us. So a tip is to not ask her about that stuff. We also asked her how we should go to the busstation and she just said opposit side, but is was kind of far over a bridge, so we had a hard time finding the busstation(with the luggage). She also said we could take any bus, but it wasn't like that at all, we could only take 1 bus. So her information isn't reliable! There also is no free wifi, no elevator.

Awful!
We arrived under a 100 degree weather to find a closet (however they called it a room for 2 with a public bathroom) with bunk beds (a mattress close to the floor under another one suspended by scary pipes). When we asked about the air conditioning we were told that "we keep it hot to conserve the energy of the world". The blankets were dirty and the staff pretentious to say the least. We left and found a beautiful small hotel around the corner where we had a clean air conditioned room with a private bathroom for the same price.

small, simple, clean room
hotel is a few hundred feet from the train station, which made getting there easy. nice walk to just about anywhere you'd want to go - venice is small enough that you can walk anywhere and everywhere. staff was nice, multilingual and welcoming. room was tiny, but functional, and most importantly, clean. windows opened out to the main street, which could get a but noisy, but nothing that you can't sleep through.

disappointed
The pictures of this hotel looked very homely and quaint, so I booked for two nights. I was disappointed from the first few minutes there. I can understand that space is limited in Venice and elevators are a luxury BUT, we were traveling with about 60 - 70 lb. trunks of luggage each and the first thing we see is a flight of stairs. It would have been nice to have a bell hop assist us up those stairs, but there isn't one. There was only one girl at the reception desk. So we had to haul our luggage up not one, but THREE flights of stairs to get to our room, and some people had rooms above us! Oh, and our room! Tiny! We didn't even have room for both of us to open our luggage, we had to take turns. Also, the hotel website says its a short walk to St. Mark's square, but not really. It's a fair walk for a young person, but if you are old, I'd say take the water taxi even though it'll take a while. It was however, very close to the train station as advertised. The biggest kicker though was their breakfast. It's only from 8 to 930, and I got there around 840, and most all the food was gone and there was no attempt to replenish any of it. Empty platters of who knows what was on there were on the bar area. I even had to clear my own table because they were all dirty and no one was cleaning up. Pretty much the only thing left to eat was a couple pastries and corn flakes. Compared to all the other included breakfasts we have had on our trip so far, this was the worst breakfast by far! I didn't even bother to wake up early the next morning for it. The cherry on top was that my husband threw his back out getting the luggage down the stairs and we still had to take trains to our next stop. Wouldn't come back to this hotel if you paid me.

The staff at this hotel was extremely friendly and helpful, breakfast was good, hotel was clean. Room was as advertised. Keep in mind that rooms can be noisy due to central location, also smelled of cigarettes. Can't beat location if you are arriving by train.

Great Staff
This hotel is situated on a very touristy street, near the train station- full of energy, but it's still quiet in your room at night. The building itself is rather charming, with lovely mosaics on the floors, well-placed artwork, and an antique vibe that truly envelops you. The high point though is the great staff, especially the lady who tends to work there morning to evening. She is warm, friendly, excited, and speaks great English. Breakfast is served with a smile, and after traveling nearly 3 weeks in Europe, it was far and away the best breakfast I ever had. A number of sweet confections available, as well as croissants (with a side of nutella!), slices of meat and cheese, hard-boiled egg, and a few other items. And for the price, this place is truly a winner!

Nice, Cosy and very good location
We booked this hotel because we were staying only one night at Venice and had planned to go around the city during the days. The stay at Antica Casa was perfect. There was Breakfast Buffet in the morning, Internet, TV.. more than I had expected. Moreover it was located right next to Santa Lucia Terminal and was literally 3 minutes walking distance in a very lively locality.

Newly renovated hotel on main street
While in Italy I stayed in various hotels in various cities and this hotel was by far the best. It's located about 5 minutes from the train station on the main street so it's very easy to find. That said, my room was very quiet and safe. The hotel has been renovated, but it's in an old building so it has a lot of charm. My room had AC, which came in useful in the heat we experienced that week. Many of the hotels I stayed in didn't have AC or a ceiling fan and the rooms got very hot. The hotel staff were helpful enough. Italian customer service isn't quite what I'm used to, but the hotel staff were better than some. The breakfast was very nice and it's included in the price of the room. The hotel was definitely worth the price paid! Italian hotels are small, old and expensive - don't expect much from them!
