__________

This distinctive ground-floor apartment is situated in the vibrant district of Cannaregio, near the magnificent Madonna dell’Orto church (and its handy vaporetto stop, offering a 25-min Alilaguna boat ride direct from the airport on the Arancio line).

Handy, yet well-off the battered main tourist track, one can live amongst the locals as a local. Grab a caffè in a bustling pasticceria, shop in the open markets, or dine in one of the many colorful seafood restaurants lining the nearby Misericordia canal; check e-mail before heading out to explore the city over tea in your private garden.

The iconic, eponymous church of Madonna dell’Orto with its world famous collection of Tintoretto works is literally around the corner, as is the artist’s home where he lived for most of his life.

This is a ground-floor apartment that is *never* affected by high-water (and there's much less of that since the Mose gates have been in operation). Draw screens down over open windows and mosquitoes will never be a problem.

This is the quintessential Venetian neighborhood, 'ben servito,' which means you can find anything from supermarkets, fresh markets, and shops for vino “al sfuso” and finer fare, to butchers to pasticcerie, from clothing and shoe to hardware stores, to bars and bàcari to notions and pharmacies. This area of the Cannaregio sestiere also boasts some of the best and most reasonably options for dining in Venice, with a host of cafes and eateries in the city. Of course, we'll pass you our insider’s neighborhood online map!

This cozy, airy apartment is handy to the Orto vaporetto stop serving Lines 4 and 5, and also to San Marcuola and the Grand Canal. Saunter to the San Sofia traghetto to be ferried to the Rialto Markets and all of San Polo, or hop the Ca d'Oro vaporetto instead.

For the actively inclined, just down the fondamenta Gasparini is the starting point for RowVenice.org Venetian rowing lessons.

Beautiful apartment close to centre
Absolutely beautiful apartment, could not fault it. Gorgeous little private garden. About 15 minutes to the central high street and 30 minutes to the basilica so ideal for popping out to sightsee and coming home for breaks in the day. Hope to be returning to this property one day as it was absolutely perfect!

A garden retreat
The appartamento is is in a quiet area, metres from the vaporetto stop Delll’ora. Eateries and supermarkets are 5 minutes away, so location is excellent. The garden is the perfect spot for a glass of wine at the end of the day - as long as you have insect repellent.

Lovely apartment
This was a great place to stay. It's a short 8 minute walk to the heart of Venice but it's an interesting trek over several canals and laneways. The kitchen is modest for those who want to cook but otherwise the apartment is well appointed and comfortable.

Great to have an outdoor space
On our month long stay in Venice we chose a sweet apartment in Cannaregio, a new part of the city for us. Loved this quiet neighborhood. Within several blocks are loads of cafe's, restaurants and all the shopping you will need and water taxi stops. The apartment had not been used for some time and Nan responded to all our needs promptly.

Convenient and beautiful location
The property is wonderfully situated, near the vaporetto and also within walking distance of great restaurants and bars. The best part of Venice that I would like to be kept a secret!

Great Neighbourhood
This was a charming place but you need to take insect spray and mosquito repellent. Each night we were woken by mosquitos buzzing us. A week after leaving I still have welt marks on my face from bites. Would consider staying there again but would arrive armed with bug spray.

The neighborhood was nice and quiet, yet not far from lovely restaurants as well as the city's main attractions. The small kitchen had everything we needed, and this is odd but I really loved doing our laundry! Pinning our clothes up on the line the Venetian way, with the birdsong and the sun and the private garden, is a memory I will always smile at. The bed was comfortable as well.

Lovely place to stay.
This is the perfect place to stay if you want a bit of quiet and space see the sky. It is just perfect for two people. The small garden is a peacful haven. Inside the rooms are airey and nicely decorated in the Venician style. I would recommend this appartment to anyone who wants to see Venice away from the crowds (that is not to say it is too far out from the sights).

The Garden House
If you want glass and marble stay in a five star hotel. If you want a proper Venetian experience stay here in a five star Venetian apartment! A quiet corner of Venice, away from the crowds, but only a 30 second walk from the Madonna dell'Orto water bus stop. The apartment is warm and comfortable with pretty much everything you could want for. Even though it's on the ground floor it didn't flood, even during the highest tide (1.56m) for decades - we know - we were there! Even though it's in Cannaregio nowhere is very far away in Venice once you've got the hang of the place. Judith was great to deal with and Nan was always on hand if we had any questions. If you don't feel like cooking there are plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants nearby. Check out 'Row Venice'. Their Gondolas are just around the corner. My wife booked a lesson for me and, while I was apprehensive at first, it was a great experience and the instructors were marvellous. We'll be back!

A Week In Rome
Overall, we rated this property as excellent. The only negative is that it required taxis to the historical center of Rome most every day we were there. This really ran up the cost of staying at this property. On the positive side the property was perfect for a party of four. The apartment was well stocked and ready for our visit. It was clean, quiet and roomy. In our opinion it might have worked better for us to pay a bit more and stay closer to the city center. The savings in the cab fares incurred would have offset this additional expense. Our four star rating is for a high four star experience.

A comfortable and convenient place to stay
Comfortable and spacious accommodation with all home comforts in a quiet and good location, near to the vaporetto and convenient for shops and restaurants. It was all very relaxing after enjoying days out around Venice. The garden was good too but unfortunately it was the time of year when there were a lot of insects about which seemed intent on biting despite citronella candles and repellent! I hope we can return again at another time of year to fully enjoy the garden as well as this lovely apartment.

Loved staying in the Cannaregio area!
We had a great four nights in this flat. We were flying in from Washington state and were greatly delayed so being able to get off the airport water bus, walk a few steps without climbing stairs, and be in the apartment was heaven. We felt we were in a "remote" corner of Venice which worked beautifully for us as it was still easy to get around. The apartment was perfectly functional. The only con was it is darker and not as comfortable as I like and the garden didn't draw me out. But, overall, it was perfectly fine and Judith and Nan were lovely to work with. I would stay there again!

A wonderful quirky hideaway in a quiet area, only 30mins walk from St Marks square
We loved staying here and Nan was really helpful. Very spacious and comfortable with good Wifi. Everything needed was there as it is a home, not just basic accommodation. Had hoped to sit in the garden for breakfast but the sun didn’t reach there until after we had gone off for the day. It is a bit dark in the apartment but that will keep it cool later in the year. We opened the kitchen windows and door to let light flood in. A great find and a privilege to borrow someone’s home for a few days. Very convenient for the water bus from the airport. The instructions we were given were very helpful. Even a kettle for those who like tea rather than coffee. I would have preferred some mugs rather than an eclectic mix of cups (some of which are tatty and need to be ditched!) but that’s just a matter of taste. A brilliant place to spend 4 nights in Venice with cafes around the corner!

Great place to stay, away from the crowds but close enough.
Great comfortable place to come home to after a day of exploring Venice. Quite far enough away from the crowds but close enough to some very good restaurants and just a couple of blocks to a water bus stop to get to any place in Venice. Very comfortable place loved the chase lounge chairs. We were late getting there as the train from Rome was delayed but Stefano stayed and checked us in. Nan met us for coffee and when we told her the coffee pot was not there, replaced it right away. Place had everything we needed would definitely stay there again.

Very uncomfortable and ill-equipped apartment
After 11 years of using VRBO for our vacations, this is the first apartment that had no coffee pot, broken down Furniture in the living room and kitchen and a lack of supplies. There was one quarter roll of toilet tissue and no Kleenex available so we were forced to go out and find a store to fulfill our needs. The two couches in the living room, while beautiful antiques, were so uncomfortable that we were forced to use five or six pillows behind our backs so that we could sit and read. The depth was entirely too big. the little side chairs that were part of the kitchen and living room we're so dilapidated that we were afraid to sit on them.

Peaceful, convenient apartment
We loved staying in the apartment. The area was very quiet but convenient to the vaporetto and many good restaurants. We could easily walk to the more touristed areas but escape to our little refuge. The apartment itself was clean and very comfortable. When we ran into a problem with the hot water heater, Nan worked hard to resolve it as quickly as possible. The little garden was an extra treat. We definitely will return!

Incredible Venice
This is truly an amazing place. Quiet location makes it great for recharging after wandering the city. Incredibly convenient to transportation if you don't feel like walking. Quick ride to and from the airport. Cozy accommodations that allow for you to cook for yourself instead of going out every night if you desire. I know I will be recommending this to my friends and family should they desire to visit Venice. Absolutely top notch!

Comfortable apartment in a natural setting.
Our stay in to be by my Cannaregio fit our expectations in every way. The apartment, located on a pleasant side Street close to a Vaporetto stop, but also within an easy 15 minute walk to the waterways and Village center, was perfect, providing a nice buffer from the excessive force crowds that gather in other parts of the city. The apartment itself was very clean and well outfitted. I The weather was brisk so we did not take advantage of the little patio off the kitchen but I'm warmer days that would have been an added treat.

Great apartment in quiet, lovely neighborhood
We loved our stay in the apartment! It is a quiet and beautiful spot to come 'home' to after running around the busier areas in Venice, yet close enough to the action when we found our second wind. The apartment doesn't get much natural light, but we didn't spend much time inside anyway. Only con was the shower - the shower curtain had mildew on it, and for some reason a rusty wire hanger was looped through the shower curtain rings, I guess to be used as a handle? Not sure why.
