FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Air Conditioning: There are ceiling fans in every bedroom, the living room, and kitchen. The house does not have air conditioning but it is rarely needed. The house is shaded by mature maple trees and there's almost always an afternoon breeze off the lake. The ceiling fans will put you to sleep when there is a rare muggy night.

Boat Launch: Public boat launch 1/4 mile from cottage

Cable/Satellite TVs: No there is not traditional cable or satellite available

Cell phone service: Most cell providers don't work well at the lake house due to hills around the lake. AT&T has the best coverage at the house. * Charlevoix: 40 min.
* Mackinac Bridge: 1 hour

Fireworks are prohibited at Freshwater property locations for the safety of all persons in and around the property, even if they are legal in that city. Fireworks are also not permitted to be used on the dock.

Fireplace: Yes, wood burning

Fire-pit: Yes, portable. Please bring firewood.

Fishing: Yes, from the dock or from the row boat!

Grocery Store: Meijer & Walmart in Gaylord, 15 min. away.

Internet: Property has fiber optic high-speed internet!

Linens: Yes, we provide you with basic sheets and linens. Just like a hotel, the beds will be made for you upon arrival. If you are particular about the thread count of your sheets, let us know, and we will make sure we leave a bed open for your sheets.

Parking: The driveway is relatively short and on a slope. No more than 3 vehicles on property. No large RVs or trailers to be parked on the property.

Pets: Up to 2 dogs (less than 25 lbs. each) are welcome! Freshwater Vacation Rentals currently charges $75/PER PET for your entire stay. Please note while we do accept pets, this is not an ideal place for pets, as there is no fenced yard and a moderately traveled road (unpaved) is in front of the property, between the house and the lake. Dogs must be on a leash at ALL times.

Privacy/ Neighbors: Outdoor privacy is limited. Neighbor cottages are very close. Neighbors are sensitive to noise. Please be respectful of quiet hours between 10 pm - 8 am. No more than 2 dogs at any time.

Gorgeous fall colors and Beautiful water view
Perfect weekend getaway to relax and enjoy the beautiful sceneries. Fall colors were popping! Came here to enjoy the northern michigan autumn and I thought this area had the best colors compared to main attractions nearby. Great place to ride bikes and bring pets. Its a very cute cottage with vintage charm. I wish they placed lawn chairs on the porch and balcony so that we could enjoy the lakeview. Also, there was dried up laundry left inside the washer. But overall, the place was neat and clean. The kitchen and bath are well stocked.

The Cottage was not as clean as years past, and maintenance is also slipping. But, the Freshwater team was quick to fix everything. Overall a fun, relaxing week.

Perfect getaway for the family
Wonderful clean house with plenty of beds for the whole family. Home was clean and ready to go and felt very personalized. Thr access to the lake and boats was perfect for the family and kiddos who spent every morning and evening fishing from the dock and spending time with grandpa on the quiet calm lake. Hoise had everything we needed and still close to all the major towns to visit uet still out on our own. Would love to come back. Go Blue!

When we arrived heat was not working. Maintenance person was in process of repairing boiler system. It took rest of day before house was warm. House is very nice and was very clean. Rental company did help me with purchase of wood for fireplace to keep warm first night.

Our landscape crew loved coming to the cabin after a long day of work. Very comfortable and awesome view of the lake. Tree branches need to be trimmed to give a better view from the upper deck. We would highly recommend this location

We loved our stay on Huffman Lake! The house was super cozy and comfortable. We cooked a lot and were super impressed by how well stocked the kitchen was. We had everything we needed and more! The area is gorgeous- we enjoyed walking out to the lake to enjoy the sunrise and sunset, and exploring the forest and searching for elk herds. Hope we can return some day!

Perfect Week Getaway
We had an absolutely wonderful time here. The house was quaint and comfortable. We enjoyed a fire each night, and soaks in the jet tub. Our kids fell in love with the house. Everything we needed was there, except a fire extinguisher, which the owner had the property manager bring over right away. We enjoyed walks in the woods, right out the back yard, and even bike rides around the lake (in 45 degrees and cooler weather). We'll very likely be back for another visit.

A magical fall getaway
We absolutely loved our time at the the Felkers Cottage. We went during peak fall. The colors were so vibrant next to the blue water. The Stars were breathtaking. We sat in awe on a cool still night watching shooting stars. We could see the milkyway so clearly and the stars reflecting on the water were magical! Definitely a highlight on our trip. We enjoyed fires in the the evening in the beautiful fireplace. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. The neighbors are friendly and we enjoyed the area. We took a day trip to Traverse City and Sleeping Bear Sand dunes one day and a trip to Petoskey/ Pond Hill Farm the other day. I would highly recommend staying here, really anytime of the year. We hope to visit again one day.

Incredible property at an incredible spot
Thank you so much - your home was exactly what we were hoping for. With only 4 of us, we did a disservice to the amount of space and beds the home has, but we so loved our stay. Amazing grill, balconies, and lake boats - the paddle boat was too much fun. Internet was actually faster than we anticipated, not that we needed it or used it much. Well stocked kitchen with all the things you forget to buy until you realize you need them. Thank you! We look forward to returning next year, we hope!
