What is not to love about staying on the water in downtown Vancouver? The hotel is beautiful, has all the amenities one would want, is right in the perfect area for dining, shopping and sightseeing. The cruise port is next door and everything is within walking distance.

We arrived very early.. 9:30 am and they found us a room. We splurged and stayed on the club floor - the lounge was EXCELLENT with delicious food, breakfast, etc and wonderful staff. The gym is in a funny location but very good and the heated pool was a treat in December.

So when we checked in, their water was not working. I get it. They need to maintenance. But no one at the checkin told us to expect anything like that. Get to the room and use the washroom … guess what … can’t wash my hands. They gave us two “free” bottles of water. So one was immediately designated for washing hands. I called the front desk. “Don’t worry … it’ll be back on by 6:30.” That came and went, and no water. I called 3 more times between 7 & 10 asking for water bottles and when the water would come back on. Promises that water would be delivered. But it never was. At 2am the hot water came back on. The cold didn’t come back until later in the day and it was a lovely brown. Also - the room was as cold as a tomb and wouldn’t warm up. Maybe related to the water problem? I don’t know. We were there for two days. Apology or explanation of any sort from the management? Nope. Compensation??!! Nope. They did offer a free breakfast. Wooo wooo. Buffet was okay. But no where near what I’d expect for compensation of a hotel with this price. Would I stay at Pan Pacific again? Sadly, nope.

The service is always impeccable and there is a waitress at the restaurant who has been there forever and is the absolute best. The downside for me this time was that we had no water in the building for over 12 hours and it kept dragging on longer than expected, not the hotels fault. There was stains on the mattress and something sprayed on the ceiling so was looking a bit run down. You can’t beat the location or service though!!
