The property was a nice place to stay. The hosts super kind and attentive. They could improve the cleaning. There was dust in some places and the shower's floor didn't look very clean either. I would recommend this property only if you have a car because it is not very close to the downtown area.
The first room we were moved into was very large and didn't cool much with the AC, so we asked to move into a smaller room, which the staff kindly accepted. That one was very comfortable.
The room was very ice. The courtyard facing room was quiet. Refrigerator in the room was nice. Free breakfast included was good, and they even made a sandwich that I could take on the road for lunch. Staff was friendly and helpful. They provided a paper area map. But they spoke little English. We came by rental car, and there was space to park, but there were only four spaces, so when the hotel is more crowded, other guests may have to park on the street. There was not anything of interest in walking distance, but then again that helped make it quiet.
We spent two nights at Hotel Hacienda Margot and it was delightful. The rooms were enormous, the beds huge and comfortable, and we virtually had the entire hotel to ourselves. Staff were friendly and helpful despite language barrier. Like having a private villa. The evening projection show on the ex-Convent walls was well worth seeing and we wouldn't have known about it without the recommendation from the desk. On the outskirts of town so a good walk or short drive to local attractions/restaurants. Be aware they don't take credit card payment. All in all a very nice experience.
The hotel is located in a rural area of Valladolid and is walkable to town about 40 mins or take a taxi for about 40 pesos. Super friendly owner and staff. Small complaint: everything is white. Adding some colour to the property by painting a few walls will make the property more attractive and give you that good Mexican feel. Small complaint: replace the dry crispy premade "toast" with a toaster and bread and let the client make some real toast. Other than these two small complaints we had a great stay, super comfy bed, loads of hot water.
Great small colonial hotel with an inviting pool and nice breakfast of fresh fruit and cereal. Very friendly staff and owners who made a point of making guests feel welcomed. Hotel is a little tricky to find but gave us an opportunity to tour that part of town. Cab rides to and from the main square were affordable and made it easy to enjoy the centro.
We loved it. Comfy bed, good shower (lots of hot water) and lots of space. Yogurt, fruit and toast for breakfast and coffee and tea available all the time. Free use of bikes. The only downside is it's far from the center and there's no nearby restaurants. It's only 30 pesos for a cab but we took the bikes. They gave us a piñata when we left and special bread for 3 reyes. I owe them tamales.
Overall, this was a well priced option. Location was rather remote in a suburban subdivision in the town of Vallidolid (we were thinking we would be withing walking distgance of Chichen Itza, but were almost 40 minutes drive away). Need a bike or car to reach restaurants and other options outside the hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly, though nobody spoke English at the hotel. The worst part of the room was the fact that water from the shower would not drain after use, so one ended up in a high puddle of dirty water after every shower.
We had a wonderful time at Hotel Hacienda Margot. The room was spacious and the courtyard and swimming pool are beautiful. The owners and staff are generous and kind and we felt like family the entire time we stayed here.
Overall, this is a good place to stay, only concern we had was that when we went out to dinner , they came into our room and shut off the A/C, this should not have happened! Rooms are very large, A/C units are small and limited to 25 degrees C so room really doesn't get comfortable temperature wise!
Little gem of hotel with attentive and friendly staff. Great beds and bedding, uber clean and deep swimming pool. Owner was very friendly and hospitable. Loved the whole experience.
We stayed one night at Hacienda Margot February 6, 2017 and I wish we had planned on staying on longer in Valladolid. Starting with welcome emails from the hotel owner we were warmly received. The room was very clean and functional if only a bit under decorated. The bed was very comfortable. An excellent value. The continental breakfast was simple but provided ample fresh fruit, toast and coffee.
What sets Hacienda Margot apart from other small hotel experiences is the personal service by the owner and manager. I felt like we were treated as family. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay there.
