The history of this charming castle goes back to the Fresse de Monval family and to Admiral de Villeneuve, opponent of Nelson and unfortunate hero of Trafalgar. Jeanne Bonaparte, Napoleon's little niece, through her marriage to the Marquis Christian de Villeneuve became the beautiful daughter of the owners at the time. She often stayed in vacation resorts in these places. three rooms and two suites with a historical theme are available to you, as well as an independent cottage which is the subject of this announcement, which is attached to the château and whose charm and originality are out of the ordinary. This small building looks a bit like a small private mansion with its own interior courtyard within the property. It is built on three levels of 20m² each connected by a small spiral staircase: Bedroom on the 1st level, Bathroom on the 2nd level, Kitchen / Dining area / living room on the 3rd level. The rooms furnished in the "loft" spirit are very bright thanks to the huge picture windows. A small lawn terrace with a garden table is immediately accessible from the kitchen and offers a very pleasant dominant view of the gardens and the valley.
The castle is located on the edge of the village of Valensole, a typical Haute Provence village renowned for its lavender, not far from the famous Gorges du Verdon, Moustiers Sainte Marie and the swimming lakes. This incomparable and mountainous region is rich in hiking trails along which you can get drunk with the sweet scents of Haute Provence. You will have free access to the relaxation area, under the almost bicentennial chestnut tree, where garden tables and sun loungers are distributed. The parking space is secured at night by the entrance gate.
You have made the choice to come here to forget your daily constraints and worries and abandon yourself to the calm and poetry of these places steeped in history. This is why, as in most castles and manors, you will not find the television in your room but only the free WiFi access.
