"Not worth its 4.8 star rating. We suspect that many guests are not quite honest because the host, Sandrine, is such a nice person. Kind, bilingual, and helpful. We have long hesitated to write an honest review, but we do feel the need to warn upcoming guests about what to expect. "The very kind hostess gave us great advice during our weeklong stay. The gite is fantastic - comfortable beds, ample bathrooms, and nicely equipped kitchen. Avernes is a lovely town, close to many other small villages and beautiful countryside, but also easy drive to Monet’s house and gardens and larger towns. The restaurant in town offers delicious food, and the butcher is well provisioned…both an easy walk from the gite. Highly recommended, Thanks Sandrine!"

"Excellent trip. Cottage was very clean and comfortable. Well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Ideal location in a quiet village but close to bigger towns within a 10-20 minute drive. Use of the garden was a good facility too. Owner was very approachable and amenable and spoke excellent English with us which was appreciated. Would have no hesitation in returning here and will recommend to friends and family as an ideal accommodation in a good location. 😊"
