Charming, Modern Cabin-A house in Vail all to yourself!

One of the first ski cabins constructed in Vail, Columbine Cabin has been lovingly upgraded, yet retains its original charm. Deck is directly over Bighorn Creek/waterfall, Columbine Cabin is steps from hiking, biking, snowshoeing and backcountry skiing in the Eagles Nest Wilderness Area and just a 6-8 minute walk to the free Town of Vail, electric shuttle system and 15 minute shuttle ride to VailVillage. The cabin is not in a secluded, wilderness area, but located in an upscale neighborhood, yet just a 6-8 minutes car ride to charming Vail Village and the ski lifts of Vail Mountain. (a car is not necessary to stay here) Despite being close to everything, Columbine Cabin is a world apart. Private, in a desirable location the cabin provides the perfect escape for couples and small families. FOUR MAXIMUM GUESTS.

PLEASE READ, IMPORTANT: Many guests feel more comfortable speaking with their host before making an instant booking. VRBO (and third party booking sites) will only give potential guests /hosts each others contact information AFTER they have your money and only after a booking is confirmed on the VRBO site. Our dedicated "Columbine Cabin" Vail site contains the owner, (Aileen's), direct contact information. She hopes to speak with you to answer all your questions and possibly negotiate lower rates PRIOR to finalizing your VRBO "instant booking" on VRBO, when your payment is in most cases-non refundable. Our dedicated “Columbine Cabin Vail” website can be EASILY searched and found. Aileen can also send you sample rental paperwork so you know exactly what you will sign after making an instant booking.

NO EXCEPTIONS. ALL OUR GUESTS MUST SIGN: (this is also listed in our "house rules")
1. Columbine Cabin Rental Agreement- (must be 25 years or older to sign)
2. A credit card damage authorization form- $2,500
Please choose another property if you are uncomfortable with signing two rental forms. Contact Aileen with specific questions about necessary forms PRIOR TO making a booking, as she will be glad to provide you with a sample of these forms.

SEARCHING HINT: You are searching for a house in Vail. Right? Even though you desire a house in Vail, VRBO will provide you with accommodations in completely different ski/hiking towns in Colorado. Sometimes they are 35 minutes away from Vail. Additionally, you are searching for a "house" but 95% of the listings VRBO finds are actually apartments or condos. If you desire a house all to yourself with easy access to Vail Village and ski lifts, check the VRBO maps for exact distance from Vail Village. Homes in the Town of Vail enjoy the convenience of the free electric shuttle service to/from the resort. Be aware... VRBO might provide search results for homes in "Eagle Vail", Avon, or Minturn which do not have free electric Town of Vail shuttle service and are located 20+ minutes from Vail. Or you might see listings in Summit County, Keystone or Breckenridge which require a lengthy and a potentially dangerous winter drive over Vail Pass.
Cleaning? Our organic, cleaning protocol is thorough, allowing guests to enjoy Columbine Cabin, avoiding as many concerns as possible! Duvet covers are changed after every guest departure. (no "reused" bedspreads here)

How safe is the area?
Vail is an extremely safe community. That being said, the cabin is located across from a trailhead that can become busy in the summer. We do recommend that all doors to the cabin be locked when you are on a hike or out to dinner. Additionally, our security cameras monitor the parking and all entrances/exits. This extra layer of security isn’t needed, but done for your peace of mind. There has been NO incidents of theft at this cabin.

HEAVY SNOWFALL-We have a plowing service for the driveway only. This is plowed after 5" of snow. Keep in mind, when booking the cabin, there is no onsite maintenance staff to shovel the front steps of the cabin as well as the access to the trash bins. Shoveling services for the back deck is not included for our guests. We provide a shovel and broom so guests can manage the snow themselves. If a guest is unwilling to assist with keeping paths clear/safe, please make this known to the host so she can hire a service on the behalf of the guest. This cost is the responsibility of the guest. Typically $40 per visit. DO NOT RESERVE THIIS CABIN IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE CLEARING THE PATHWAYS FROM SNOW AND ICE. We suggest you book a hotel or condo where these services are usually included.

Cozy Cabin
Perfect little spot, very clean, and great location. The market and liquor store just down the road had everything we needed for a great New Years Eve family celebration. Though the bus stop is just down the hill, I would recommend driving and parking at Vail, the rates aren’t too bad and that hill is a pain to walk back up after a long day on the mountain. We will be back.

Incredible cabin & location!!!
This cabin is absolutely stunning, so beautifully remodeled while keeping the mountain rustic charm. Everything was so clean, nice, and the space was wonderful to relax in. The owners even left me chocolates for my birthday! There is a waterfall off the back porch and you can hear the calming sounds from it anytime in/around the house. Pure magic going to bed and waking up to the sound of a waterfall! Convenient location, there’s a hiking trail out the back door and Vail is a short few mins drive away. Columbine Cabin is our favorite place we have ever stayed and we can’t wait to come here again!

We had a great time at the Cabin. It has an awesome stream/waterfall behind it. It’s fun to watch the squirrels run around in the back. Aileen was a great host and was very accommodating. She even suggested several places to eat while we were there. We would highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a place around Vail.

Stunning Cabin
My husband and I spent our 12th anniversary in the lovely Rocky Mountains. We usually go to South Florida but Hurricane Ian threw us a curveball. I found Columbine Cabin and fell in love; I was so excited that it was available. Aileen was very friendly and helpful during the booking process and throughout our stay. The cabin was lovely inside and out. It was immaculate and tidy, and we loved the decor. The location of the cabin is perfect, and the parking space is a definite plus. I loved the stream off the balcony and the Bighorn trailhead just up the road. Vail is a short drive away for those interested, however we spent most of our time in Minturn (also just a short drive away) in the White River National Forest exploring the many trails, moose watching, and catching trout. The kitchen was perfect for cooking our breakfast every morning. There was a packet of information about the cabin and about the area, along with details on checking out, which made prepping the cabin for our departure a breeze. Aileen was such a wonderful host and our anniversary was one of the best! I will definitely stay here again! Thank you Aileen, I could go on and on about how much I loved Columbine Cabin!

Great deck on a river 4. Close to the town of Vail, restaurants, shopping and the Vail ski area. Cons: 1. Only 4 guests can stay here 2. No dogs allowed

What a beautiful stay at Columbine Cabin! The accommodation and location is incredibly special. The cabin has a warm, sunny living space and having the creek directly off the back deck was so peaceful. I enjoyed lounging on the comfortable patio furniture listening to the creek and the birds. Beds are so comfortable too! I'm so happy we did not book a condo, as we felt like we had our own private oasis at the cabin! We'll be back in the winter!"

Columbine Cabin Cozy
Columbine Cabin was great to stay in. We loved having the trailhead right outside the door, and several other trails right near by. The cabin itself is clean and cozy. It snowed one night of our stay, which was lovely to wake up to see out the picture windows. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a comfortable, easy access, relaxing mountain retreat.

More beautiful and peaceful than I could have ever dreamed of
Wow! I can't believe that I was able to book this beautiful cabin in Vail. I have been longing for some time away from my office and in nature, and this cabin did not disappoint. We had everything we could possibly need- from the world's most comfortable bed, a well-stocked kitchen, a cozy/snow view of a gorgeous creek behind the house, and a very kind and communicative host. I will definitely be back to visit because this place is very, very special.

We enjoyed a 10 day amazing beautiful stay at Columbine cabin. We couldn't have asked for a better host, location and charming accommodation. The cabin is a true jewel. Sun filled, warm, good vibes, very welcoming and a happy feel good all around. Fully stocked with anything and more one would need. After a full day of hiking the bed just hugs and cuddles you. Excellent mattress, linens, etc. and even a heating blanket just in case you need to feel that extra warmth. The location to be close to any amount of outdoor activity is off the chart. The Vail bus system is free to guests and you can take a bus just a few steps down the road to any trail head Vail has to offer. Aileen is a fantastic host and any question, concern or whatever else pops up will be answered in a blink of any eye. Aileen, thank you so much for allowing us to be your guest. It has been a very special experience and all I can say; whoever books the cabin - you won't be disappointed, and treat it well. It is a true gem. Colorado rocks and we sure hope to come out again some other time in the future. Dieter & Silke
