Please note: We have a second cabin adjacent to this listing that comfortably sleeps six. If you are interested in booking both cabins, please let me know!
Shopping and Groceries:
Depending on where you are coming from, Uvalde or Kerrville will likely be the last large town you drive through where there is a Wal-Mart, HEB, or Walgreens. etc. Camp Wood is the closest town to the ranch and has a family-owned gas station (Get-N-Go) and a Family Dollar. Both businesses should have what you need, but we recommend you plan accordingly prior to your visit.
Proximity to other attractions:
Chalk Bluff: Approximately 30 minutes. The majority of the drive is getting off our ranch (~20 minutes). The remaining time is spent on the highway.
Nueces Canyon River: 20 minutes. Our County Road crosses two sections of the Nueces River and is a quick 15-20-minute drive from the cabins.
Garner State Park: Roughly 50 minutes to an hour. While we may look close on the map, there are rolling hills that separate us from the Leakey/Concan area. You will have to drive through Camp Wood, but the drive is part of the famous Twisted Sisters, often said to be one of the most scenic highways in Texas.
Other things to note:
1.) The kitchen has a small stove/oven and a fridge/freezer combo.
2.) We do not have an ice maker in the cabin. However, the freezer is large enough for 1-2 bags of ice.
3.) Guests must drive down ~8 miles of well-maintained caliche road. While 4x4 is not required, if there is heavy rain, the roads can become muddy in some spots.
4.) Guests are welcome to bring their kayaks, canoes, ATVs, etc. Please let me know if you will be bringing any of these, and I would be more than happy to offer guidance on where to go on the ranch.
5.) Cellphone service can be spotty throughout the ranch. Depending on your provided, you may have little to no service when exploring.
