"A lovely Inn to stay in historic Hathersage. Small car park that made parking a little tricky at times. Pleasant room overlooking the car park. Bed a little uncomfortable but not a problem. Excellent food and drink in the pub. Breakfast time is limited to 8:30 to 9:30 although they did a slightly later breakfast for us on the Saturday so that my wife could do the nearby parkrun."

"I spent two nights hear so saw lots of different staff and they was all amazing. I had the single room which is probably only a few inches off been a double, so great. I had two evening meals which were both fantastic and also fantastic value for money. But the breakfast is the show stopper for me. If you like a full English you will love this hotel"

"Stayed in the single room with a dog. The room was very comfortable and well appointed and a good size with single bed. The shower room was of a good size. The room overlooks the garden, some car parking and partial view of a road from the village. Out of season this room was lovely and quiet and suited my needs. "I stayed two nights in Castleton in mid-November amid some early snow which made the village and the walks around the hills stunning. But the real treat came after a long day of hiking when I was able to return to a cozy pub to have a hot meal, a pint of ale and a nice read by a roaring fire. The four-poster room was spacious and clean, with a beautiful view over the hills and fields. Meal portions were generous and very delicious, and all the staff were friendly and accommodating. "Friendly staff, and food was OK. The property needs significant TLC. The terrifying stairs probably cant be fixed, but the decor could be improved, and the bedroom could be given some character."

We were anticipating a cozy room, in a country pub setting but, in reality, the D&P offers good value, chalet-style family rooms, each with it’s own car port, in a large area behind the pub itself.
