The bad stuff: This hotel is a bit older and it shows. Cleanliness was not at a 4 or 5 star level. Our hotel room door would not latch/lock, so we had to request to move to a different room. The next room had a strong smell of marijuana. Other occupants were very noisy in the hallways: shouting and slamming their doors. The good stuff: This location was convenient to the University of Alabama campus. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast and snack options were varied and appreciated. This hotel is dog friendly so travelers can bring their pets.

Everything was great but we felt for the price the breakfast should have been better. We realize there was a spike in the price because of a game in town but this means we paid a premium to stay there. There should have been more there other than what was offered. Would have been nice if there had been at least waffles or pancakes. Other than that, the room was nice and spacey, clean bathroom with a nice tub and shower. We would return for sure.

My husband thought he dropped something behind the bed. He pulled the mattress away from the wall to be stunned to find black mold . I'm not talking about a little. It was at least 3 feet long and a foot wide. I took 3 pictures of it. I Went to the check in desk, requested a manager, showed her the pictures & requested a full refund including the fee for my dog. It was disgusting.

The property was nice. My room was very spacious. The property was only 13 minutes from my daughters new apartment in town so that was very convenient. Areas that could improve are, my bathroom door was very hard to close. The breakfast was bland and the front desk staff weren't very friendly. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay.

The front desk clerk was very rude, didn’t greet us, no smile. I have a neurological condition that affects my vocal cords, it’s hard for me to speak clearly. I was trying to explain this to her and she rolled her eyes! I had my 3 grandchildren with me, the oldest is 18, even she noticed the attitude. Went to our room, met up with family, came back to the hotel, kids are in bed and the TV doesn’t work! I went back downstairs to report it because the phone in the room wouldn’t work. So no TV, no phone. When I approach the same young lady, no greeting and she wouldn’t even look at my, by this time of night my voice is so bad you can’t understand me, I signaled the best I could for a pen and paper and she rolled her eyes AGAIN! After scribbling about the TV, I was informed that I would need to wait for her replacement to come in because, “I’m not dealing with you” I said to her she should be nicer, went back to my room and waited for her replacement. Ethan was the over night clerk and he was wonderful, very patient with my disability and so kind! He is a definite asset to the company! He made sure the TV was fixed the very next morning and our second night was great! The buffet is eh, we didn’t eat it again after we tried it. Eggs were watery, sausage was gray. And not way to microwave because they’re using foam bowls. The hotel wasn’t very clean. Bathroom was clean but the tub is chipped up. Water pressure was good. Can’t give more than two stars and they’re for Ethan.

My time spent here was good. However, when I checked into my room there was this odd smell as if there was an animal that had been there before me. I used my personal air freshener to help ease the smell. Also, the breakfast was okay. It’s not the best I’ve had, but it’s something to put on your stomach if you’re in a rush.
