"I was new to Japanese culture. The hotel was very clean and hospitable. The bed was very stiff and a room for 3 adults was one big bed to share. We were expecting a hotel like the USA. Different but I think for the area it was well done."

"While the staff were friendly and the entrance to the hotel seemed nice, the room wasn’t cleaned properly. There were hairs all over the bathroom. The walls were faded and stained in spots. The walls were thin. I could hear children playing across the hall and a group having a drinking party in their room at the other end of the building. In short, it was an old business hotel badly in need of renovation. "

"The hotel wasn’t fancy, but it was competent. It is a slightly upscale business hotel. The rooms were cramped but clean, and the breakfast offerings were smaller than usual, but the menu was thoughtful and offered something for everybody. The hotel seeks to differentiate itself with a family-friendly image. "Hinotani is a seasonal find, like a good sake or cigar by the riverside, with tatami rooms, intelligent and proactive staff, and a Japanese experience that is local but aims to be international. The water park below is an eyesore that runs to summer end, but the food and room view in the morning - don't look down - are Japan's essentials, and add fall moon, nice baths, local drink and humor in F1season , and the immediate patron reflection is 'when will I be back?',"

"This hotel gave us a surprise if its room size which is bigger than expected. There are also chairs with coffee table in the room which is rare in most of the hotel rooms in Japan. Hotel’s breakfast is fantastic and hotel owner is really putting lots of efforts and heart in its hospitality to all guests."

Great place to stay, very convenient

"This is a great place to stay in Ise, where there is a limited selection of hotels. Very close to the railway station and the outer shrine, short bus ride to the outer shrine. Its not fancy but offers good clean accommodation at a very reasonable price if booked well enough in advance. It was my second stay and I would choose this place again if I sent there again."

"Service is good. From the reception to the bell boy to the restaurant staff. The male manager at the breakfast reception is always bright and courteous every morning. Club room is super worth it since there’s food throughout the day with yummy cheesecakes etc. There’s even free flow liquor available. The club room is pretty and nicely renovated. We loved our stay at TOBA we stayed 3 nights"
