Trieste enjoys the reputation of being the city of the wind, of historic cafés, and of the many museums. It has always been a multicultural, Central European city that stands out for university research carried out by SISSA, the International School of Advanced Studies.
Prestigious palaces, panoramic points, large squares and places of worship of various creeds characterize the center, dominated by the presence of the sea that disappears and reappears at every corner, in the form of timid views or broad horizons. And that every year, in October, hosts one of the most participated sailing regattas in the world, the famous Barcolana.
La Barcolana is a historic international sailing regatta held every year in the Gulf of Trieste.
Noted for being one of the highest participation regattas, from the 2018 edition, the Barcolana, with 2689 registered boats, is at the top of the ranking of the most crowded regattas in the world, a goal achieved and met with commitment by the entire Sailing Society of Barcola and Grignano.
