A Perfect Stay
We were a party of 16, 11 adults and 5 children aged 2-11 and the houses, location and cleanliness were superb. Thomas you as there to make sure we had everything we needed and enjoyed the wine tour and tasting! We were lucky enough to be around for the breathtaking fireworks on Bastille day too which was a bonus! I would totally recommend Domaine de Cantalauze and hope to return one day….

Wonderful family holiday
Had a wonderful 2 weeks from 10-24 August with all our family, 8 adults and 9 children ranging from 11 years to 2 months. Houses were clean and spacious with comfy beds. Spent most of the time in the pool which kids adored. Thomas was always very helpful and gave us a tour of his wine estate which was very interesting and included wine tasting too. The surrounding area is beautiful, we walked and cycled to Carcassonne along the Canal du Midi and drove to Narbonne and Lagrasse to visit the Abbey de Fontfroide. There are so many interesting places to visit in the area . We have many fond memories of our time spent here and wouldn’t hesitate to return again. Thank you Thomas.

Loved this place
Group of mostly old-timers with a few youngish family members had a smashing time at Domaine de Cantalauze. Everything was basically great: Thomas is a terrific host and gave up an evening to take us through his wine making business. He also allowed us to project the Europa Final on the screen in his wine-tasting room - so we avoided the need to crowd round a tiny laptop screen 😁👍 We walked to Trebes for meals - 25 min via the canal - and to buy groceries (supermarket is 10min drive). Also hired bikes and cycled the other way alongside the canal to Carcassonne. Then we headed for a day on the beach near Narbonne - a 90minute drive. We found the pool and games room added to our fun. Accommodation is spacious, with a lovely rustic feel. An hour and a quarter’s easy drive from Toulouse airport. All in all I would highly recommend this venue for a gathering of old-mates.

Perfect!
11 very discerning friends who for many years have holidayed altogether for one week a year. Our wants are simple - quality, comfort, en suite facilities in an interesting location. This had it all. Throw into the mix, one very accommodating, friendly and extremely knowledgable owner where nothing is too much trouble. You will not be disappointed and would highly recommend.

Extended family event in Cantalauze
Finding a large property in the Southern part of France with the right type of facilities in the right type of location can be tricky. But this was a find. We were a family group ranging in age from 18 months to over 60 with representatives from most decades so it was a big ask to keep everyone happy. 2 good properties, well equipped (3 fridges no less! and further wine fridges) with sufficient bathrooms, generous sized rooms, a selection of outside eating areas with plenty of chairs, lounging and upright, and with 2 pools ticked all the boxes. And we weren't disappointed. A highly recommended property. I would absolutely recommend taking bikes or hiring them for some of the time. The property was located 15 minutes from the Canal du Midi by foot, and by bike only about 5 minutes and the daily ride into Trebes to collect vast quantities of croissants and baguettes and other fancies from the very nice boulangerie before breakfast was a joy. Also in Trebes (walking distance) there is a most helpful tourist office supplying local maps and all the usual literature; a selection of restaurants by the Canal, a proper market on Sunday and a selection of supermarkets. The biggest nearby was in Carcassonne and on our side of the town so very easy to reach. All a requirement when you are so many people. Cantalauze is also close to the old cite of Carcassonne, being great for a visit in the early morning or evening, a bit busy in high season at other times, with plenty of nice restaurants, many of them child friendly. The property is close to a water park, rafting excursions, gorges, castles - a bit further to the sea - but everything doable in a day. And of course Thomas was very happy to inform us about his vineyard and his plans for further wine production, as well as supplying wine to sell. What you may not know is that this region can be windy. But this is a warm wind which keeps the blistering heat at bay and makes the temperature very pleasant. Some of us finished our trip to this region with a 2 night stay in Collioure, a seaside town which was also excellent - we always try and avoid travelling on a Saturday!

Amazing!! 5*****
These houses are just amazing. A truly gorgeous place . Homes are so unique and gorgeous, rooms are spotless, beautiful and showers & kitchens were fantastic. The pool area is magnificent and we spent most of our evenings at the BBQ in the pool house. This is a magical spot and the houses are just fantastic. Thomas Sananes the owner, was so helpful and nice. We were 11 adults and 6 kids ranging from 2yrs to 14yrs and everyone loved it. If you are thinking of booking these houses don't hesitate! I would definitely return.

Excellent family property
I can only echo recent reviews. This is a fantastic holiday property comprising two houses side by side and comfortably accommodating 18 in total. The houses are comfortable, well equipped and spacious. The bedrooms are all very smart. Not all rooms have air con in the Manor House but even in August we had no problems as the buildings are solid and cool inside. There was constant hot water so no issues at shower time! The pool area is large with plenty of chairs and sun loungers as well as a good play area for children big and small. Thomas ( and his parents who also gifted fruit to us) are really nice people, and were very helpful. In fact, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Trebes was a straightforward 25 min walk. I would only mention that the stairs in the Pigeonnier were a little steep for my 80+ mother but there were no problems in the manor house. We have rented holiday homes for 20 years plus, and this is comfortably one of the best. Thank you, Thomas, for your particular kindness when we had some issues with airport transport. I recommend this property without hesitation.

A wonderful holiday in a lovely rural location with perfect weather.
Our extended family of 11, ages from 8 to 68, really enjoyed this holiday week. We spread ourselves comfortably over the 2 adjoining houses where the facilities are excellent. The grounds are extensive, well-laid out and there is plenty to explore. In particular, the 2 pools and surrounding garden are superb and, the weather was hot and sunny, so that was where we spent most of our time. The adjoining pool house has a good-sized barbecue which we used several times. Thomas and his family gave us a warm and friendly welcome and are excellent hosts. Our favourite beach in the area was Leucat- Plage which is about 1 hour away. The nearby Canal du Midi is ideal for walking, jogging or cycling. We can thoroughly recommend this property which is ideal for larger parties. We hope to visit her again in the future.

Best holiday rental ever
Having had a week to reflect on our stay in these two holiday homes I can honestly say that they were the best we have encountered. Our extended family of fifteen, ranging in age from 13 to 78 all had a great time. The houses were comprehensively equipped and were simply but appropriately furnished. Everything worked well i.e. washing machines, dishwashers, hot water system and air-conditioning etc. Outside there were two well-maintained and much enjoyed swimming pools and a large covered area for eating inside if rain or wind prevailed. This also included a barbecue, table tennis and X box for extra entertainment. There was also a boules pitch, which was enjoyed by all. The owner, Thomas, was charming and most helpful with recommendations for restaurants and explanations about the excellent red wine which he is producing from his vineyard. He also had various whites and roses on offer in the wine coolers. He was away for the first week of our holiday, but his parents live in the village and were there to help with any queries in his absence (we didn't have any) and, more importantly replenish wine supplies! His father, Gerard, also left a wonderful box of apricots from his orchard on our doorstep midweek. A gesture which was much appreciated and certainly beyond the call of duty. The location suited us well. A pleasant half hour walk, partly alongside the Canal du Midi to the pretty little town of Trebes, with a wonderful boulangerie and adequate supermarket. It also has several canalside restaurants, including the wonderful "Moulin" where we had a superb meal. The less active could do the car journey in five minutes We enjoyed a dayat Leucate, where we lunched at a great beach restaurant, recommended by Thomas and the young had fun on a pedallo. Carcassonne is not to be missed for its charm and history, but go early and have petit dejeuner there before the crowds arrive. All in all it was a holiday which will be remembered by us all. Not least because of the friendliness and welcome from the Sananes family. WeI have no hesitation in highly recommending this venue. Thank you, Thomas. Best wishes, Mike and Carolyn Graham & family

Amazing Summer Family Retreat!
We were an extended family group of 17 people, ranging in age from 6 to 70s. The property has many bedrooms and easily accommodated all the various family groups. We enjoyed the grounds, the pool, and the outdoor cabana area for evening meals. Thomas was readily available to help us and answer questions and offer suggestions. The property is walking distance to Trebes village. A fun time had by all, the week passed too quickly!
