The Shining Vietnam
"Ok so I have very mixed feelings about my stay here. It was odd. This is a magnificent oceanfront hotel in the middle of nowhere and it’s apparently almost completely void of guests the majority of the time. I’ve never seen anything like it. This place is massive. The common area could easily entertain 1000+ people; I think that’s a low estimate. There is a huge breakfast area that was empty the four days I was there. I will say management needs to get their act together. With an empty hotel there is no excuse for everything to be immaculate and it wasn’t. The one table I chose to sit at for lunch day 1, I chose for the view of the beach and it was dirty. Someone previous had chosen the same table for the same reason, made a mess and the staff just left it. I spent four days with these people and they have great attitudes for the most part; friendly, enthusiastic but supervision was nonexistent which is ridiculous because I know they were in the building. The epitome of overstaffed. Everywhere you looked was a sharp dressed supervisor or manager doing. . . nothing. At one point in the dining room I called out the wait staff because I placed an order and it never arrived; no explanation, no food and the waiter apparently went on break. Now unfortunately this a predominantly Vietnamese speaking hotel and I speak English; google translate was used constantly by myself and most employees. When I ordered food I was never sure what would arrive but I ate some pretty good food here."
