Although it looks absolutely nothing like the picture that appeared in Expedia, the studio apartment I rented was in a nice building and was a nice apartment with a nice view. HOWEVER, with no owner on site gaining entry to what I had paid for was a bit of an issue. I was booked into apartment 3401 – in 8 York Street and given only one key to the room. Issues with the TV and Air Conditioner were handled via a long stream of texts between me and the owner. The apartment was not adequately furnished. The convertible sofa was uncomfortable as a sofa as well as a bed. No table or chair. A countertop to eat at, but only 1 stool (that didn’t adjust properly, either). No lamps in the room adequate to read by. The exercise room and pool were quite nice and the location was very good.
This turned out to be an “Air B n B” type arrangement that Expedia booked for us through a 3rd party and Expedia customer service, when asked for assistance, took the position that the 3rd party company was responsible for issues. Expedia did not adequately explain the arrangement in its listing and all of this came as a surprise to me. I had to pay a ‘damage deposit’ (refunded a week later) AFTER paying Expedia in order to get access to the apartment… a difficult process, at that. In the end, handling all of the issues around access, pay, and USE took hours of time and much frustration and effort. When I called Expedia Customer Service they were clueless about the arrangement THEY sold me and no help
