Lost River Lodge is an authentic log cabin intimately nestled amongst twenty six wooded acres, backing up to National Forest Service land, and overlooking one of the Smokey Mountain’s most scenic wonders, the Nantahala Gorge. Newly refurnished, no expense has been spared in attempting to make this the perfect vacation destination to create a lifetime of memories. We truly want you to feel like this Is your “home away from home.” Whether you are looking for a romantic get away with that special someone in your life, a family looking for a place to create a lifetime of lasting memories, an avid outdoorsman, a fly fisherman, or just looking for some peace and quiet, Lost River Lodge has it all. Located just minutes away from the Nantahala Outdoor Center (NOC), which boasts of zip lining, white water rafting, and kayaking, it is also just minutes away from what has been voted one of the finest fly fishing rivers in the United States. While being in very close proximity to the Bartram Trail, which passes along the ridge above Lost River Lodge, for hiking, and Lake Nantahala which offers boat rentals, fishing, water skiing, kayaking, and paddle boarding, Lost River Lodge is very conveniently located just 12 miles from the quaint town of Andrews, 21 miles from Murphy, and 23 miles from Bryson City, for easy access to all of the areas major attractions. It is a 1 1/2 hour drive from Asheville Regional Airport, in Asheville, and a 2 1/2 hour drive from Hartsfield - Jackson, Atlanta International Airport, in Atlanta. (Our personal suggestion, based on experience, would be to fly into Asheville, which is a small regional airport located just off of Interstate 40, and a much more pleasant drive.) While Lost River Lodge is very accessible, a gravel road leads to the cabin. The road was completely reconstructed, and reconfigured in January, 2023. If you are renting a vehicle, an SUV, or minivan would be suggested. Four wheel drive, or all wheel drive, would be suggested, but not necessarily required. Sports cars or cars with low ground clearance may find access challenging. The main roads in the area are paved, however, most, if not all of the cabins in the area, are on private, single lane, gravel roads. There are numerous scenic mountain bike trails to be enjoyed in the area and if you are up for a beautiful, yet challenging drive, on either two, or four wheels, take a run through the “Tail of the Dragon”, which is just a short drive away, as is the Appalachian Trail. Lost River Lodge offers a very convenient location, as well as, the serenity and seclusion that can only be afforded by being located on twelve wooded acres. As you enter the acreage surrounding Lost River Lodge, you will be greeted by a babbling brook, which we have named, the “Lost River”, as it appears, and disappears, under ground, depending on the time of the year of your visit. Lost River Lodge has two bedrooms each with new queen size beds, a loft with a queen size flex steel sleeper sofa, and a twin size roll away bed. It sleeps up to eight people, four adults and four children, or seven adults comfortably. Luxurious sheets and bedding make sleeping a dream after a hard day, of having fun, and enjoying all that the area has to offer. There is a cozy gas fire place for those chilly nights, when you just want to snuggle around a warm fire, with that special someone in your life. The great room, bed rooms, and loft all have flat screen televisions, Direct T.V., and there is satellite internet access available throughout cabin. Cell phone reception is excellent with even the most temperamental carriers providing service on the lower deck. If your group consists of more than eight people, we have a strategic alliance with another vacation rental property within walking distance of the Lost River Lodge that can accommodate up to seven additional guests. When you are not inside the cabin, enjoying the decor and the rustic log cabin experience, you will want to sit outside on one of the two main decks enjoying the “million-dollar view” overlooking the Nantahala gorge. While enjoying the deck, view, and music of the waterfalls, located on the property, toast a marshmallow or two over the beautifully crafted stone fire pit, or relax with a glass of wine in the four-person hot tub located conveniently on the deck outside of the downstairs bedroom. Please note that there are three security cameras located around the outside perimeter of the cabin covering the parking area, front door, and rear doors. These will be deactivated at check in.
