We have to credit the Greek professor on reception. A knowledgable person who is local to Tinos, he’s a credit to the team.
We thought this hotel would be the highlight of our trip to the Greek islands, but it was the opposite.
Marriott’s marketing worked perfectly, we were excited about visiting what looked like a boutique hotel. We thought we’d be wowed throughout.
We didn’t expect to drive down a dirt track to the hotel. When we arrived in our room the air conditioning wasn’t working properly and didn’t greatly cool the room throughout our stay.
They offered to take our bags, then left us without them so we couldn’t shower, change and enjoy the facilities.
The architecture does look stunning but there was no long mirror in the room, we looked down on rooms with pools and when we asked if an upgrade was possible we were told it would be a significant amount more.
It’s sad to write a negative review, because with some better adjustments, which we asked for it could have turned into a better stay.
Instead we chose to eat at some of the fantastic restaurants and enjoy experiences across Tinos. If you’re looking for luxury, then save your money for one of the many fantastic Greek hotels, a lot of work needs to be done at the Odera to bring in more of the island feel and give guests an experience of what true Greek hospitality can be.
