Great long weekend
We hope to come back sometime. The house was great and we’d never been that part or the OR coast. What a treat.

Great location and views but needs upgrades
The location of this place, hot tub, the kitchen and the view are wonderful. The rest of the house definitely needs to be renovated/updated —there’s some kind of mold or something that’s causing a musty smell that is very fragrant, especially in the basement. Great for two couples or a small family.

Peaceful retreat in Cape Meares
The property was adequate for our 3 day stay. The beach was close however the path down to the beach was not easily navigated by anyone with mobility issues (arthritic knees!). The saving grace was a bench located close to this path that you could sit on and take in the ocean and people watch. The house fit our needs but is in need of some TLC.

Our stay at bay ocean retreat
Location was great! Beds were comfy. The Kitchen living dining area was great for gathering with family. There is carpet in the upstairs bathroom which was not our favorite, but the water pressure and hot water were limitless, which was awesome! The on site hot tub is wonderful too and taken care of! The home was clean, but a bit dusty. My first impression was that it wasn’t as organized and as homey as some homes we’ve stayed in, but it was clean and comfortable and we appreciated the location and amenities that this home has to offer.

Almost Perfect
More detail needs to be given to cleaning. Upstairs bedrooms had strong pet soil odor & the whole downstairs smelled strong of mildew. My brother's sock fell behind the dresser dowstairs & when he retrieved it, he found 2 moldy towels. Some furniture could definitely use an update to make home more appealing. Deck needs to be upgraded for safety. Kitchen & living room are nice. Neighborhood is nice. Walk to beach is lovely.

House was not very clean, sand in hot tub and no BBQ grill when the online post said there was one.
It wasn’t hard to rent this property. The location was nice and it was close to the beach. The house was basic and not very clean. We brought food to grill but there was no BBQ grill. Downstairs TV wasn’t hooked up to watch cable or movies, you had to pick one or the other. DVD player on the room didn’t work.

Missing some items and some things don't work
1. The heat didn't work and someone had to bring us space heaters. 3. Not all the burners seemed to be working well. 2. There wasn't any laundry detergent. 3. There wasn't any dish washer detergent.

Stinky And Dirty
The location is good, but everything but the kitchen is outdated and smells like mildew. There is carpet in the bathroom and 70’s carpet in the queen room that feels wet to the touch. There is dried mud under an outdated and stinky chair that showed me that jt has probably flooded, which explains the smell. Way too many stairs for old men and dogs. Unkempt, broken screens, windows and the screen door pops off. Not to mention I found a dead bug in the bed this morning upon check out. I don’t do negative reviews, but this was exceptional. Should not be a Vacasa. Does not meet the standard. It should absolutely be renovated before renting out again.

Bayocean retreat at Cape Meares
The common area of the kitchen, dining and living room is nice (a fourth stool for the kitchen island would have been great). Enjoyed the hot tub very much also. The house in general is dated but adequate. The negatives are mostly about cleanliness and clutter. The carpeting in the upstairs bathroom smells like pee and at least needs shampooing as does the carpets in the bedrooms… dirty and dingy. Old raspberries and dried cheese were obvious under the refrigerator crisper when we first opened it and the whole thing could use a good cleaning. The exterior is literally a dump with useless debris everywhere. Cigarette butts on the ground all around the fire pit which had stacked cinder blocks for seating. A dump run would make a huge difference. This property simply needs some attention. The neighborhood is nice and quiet and beach access terrific a block away. Also enjoyed the option for a late check-out.

A Dump
Yes, it has a hot tub, and the kitchen is beautiful. The rest of the house goes from bad to worse. There is a distinct feel of a home that hasn't been updated in 50 years. The entire lower floor is downright creepy feeling, as well as being cold, damp, and musty. We immediately requested a different rental from Vacasa. We were told that our situation had been escalated to the highest priority and that we would hear back in minutes. After waiting an hour for any resolution, we decided to take our chances with a refund and just booked somewhere else. I would not stay in this house for free. Ultimately we did receive a partial refund, but the fact that we were still charged for cleaning and booking fees is ironic, given the state of the house and the fact that Vacasa clearly has quite low standards when it comes to screening their rentals.

House needs tlc but in a great location
This house is in a great location with a great view. It has a great deck it just needs refinishing. The barbecue needs to be replaced. The hot tub was great and private. It has good washer and dryer. However, the house is very worn down. I would say the furnishings were from the 70s and 80s. The couch upstairs is really worn out. The beds were comfortable. I would say the 2 twin beds are actually toddler beds. It wasn’t the cleanest rental I have been in. Especially the refrigerator need some major work. There were some I think closet doors just set against the wall in the downstairs bedroom. Also a random lamp when you walk in the room. I don’t think the house has had any remodel since being built. I would say the only new thing was the hot tub. If it had some remodeling done it would be a super cool house. Cape Meares was a cute little town and very quiet. The beach was also cool and not overcrowded.

closer to 3.5 stars: location 5 stars, house maybe like 3 stars?
The house has an awesome location. It's literally a block and a half away from a very nice beach with chill access. I must have lucked out in my booking because the weather was perfect and the beach was sparsely populated. Great place to watch the sunset. I liked that it wasn't too far from Tillamook either, in case we needed some last minute supplies from Safeway. The house itself could use a little updating. The two kitchen setup was sort of odd, and we didn't end up using the downstairs kitchen. The upstairs kitchen was a little outdated with an odd range that had a built in grill. Lots of caked on stuff on the grill. The kitchen gear itself was sort of not in the best of shape, but thankfully I travel with my own stuff. The wrap around deck and the hot tub are the high points of this house. The wrap around deck is pretty wonderful and there's a bit of the ocean visible through the trees. Parking is not a problem. The beds are adequate. The downstairs rooms are a bit more dated. The master bedroom was fine. The TV is on the new side. The house itself didn't strike me as smelly or particularly unclean like the older reviews would have led me to believe. Just the kitchen tools were sort of worn out. But the location was amazing and the weekend was great. There was nearly a full pot of old coffee waiting for us when we arrived. We didn't partake, but that was a nice gesture. Be careful of the furniture out in the yard, that picnic bench is definitely on its last leg. Pros: Location; wrap around deck; parking; hot tub; newish TV; view; that beach was awesome Cons: kitchen gear; range; shag carpeting; outdated bathroom; limited yard furniture

We loved the updated kitchen, but didn’t like that the bedrooms weren’t updated. Cleaning crew left wash in the machine still wet. Overall, not our favorite stay.

Awesome Location/Mediocre House
We had a blast on the coast. This house is in a great location a block from the best access point to beach. You can see the ocean from the deck/kitchen, which is cool. Interrupted views. Like most Vacasa homes in Cape Meares, the house was pretty shabby but the kitchen was functional for group cooking. Needs a grill. Hot tub was nice. Front carport area is a little muddy. Ground floor living room has a lot of mold growing behind the television and smells musty. We wouldn’t stay here again but it was comfortable enough for a fun week on the coast.

Overall
Overall it was a great location. Super easy beach access. But there is hardly any service even with Wi-Fi. The tv wouldn’t connect to anything (Netflix, Hulu, ect) and none of the dvd/vhs players worked. So bring something to do in the evening. The house was clean and nice. Good view of the ocean and hearing the waves all day and night was fantastic.

Nice beach house
Nice location. Easy check in and out. We come to Cape Meares many times a year and we’ve stayed in this house a handful of times. unfortunately it’s not our first choice. It needs some tlc. There’s been some upgrades to the kitchen, but the bedrooms, beds, bathroom and the entire downtstairs needs to be fixed up + the linens could be replaced. Carpet in the bathroom and bedrooms upstairs smells like mildew and I hate to say it, urine. We don’t use the downstairs when stay in this house, which is unfortunate because it’s a three bedroom and it’s not cheap. With a few small upgrades this place would be awesome!
