Hotel was clean and seemed well maintained. Parking lot is NOT very secure and the unsavory characters begging for money and cigarettes were a definite problem. Excellent views, large rooms, lots of homeless beggars.

Very VERY disappointed! I booked 2 rooms for the night of Saturday September 28/24 for my daughters 13th birthday. We invited 10 friends over to swim from 3pm-7pm. Upon my checkin i was informed that the swimming pool had been privately booked for another childs birthday party. Thus, my daughter and her friends, as well as the guests in EVERY OTHER ROOM IN THE HOTEL would not be allowed to use their swimming pool from 3pm-7pm. Seeing as no advance notice was given that the pool would be closed for any reason, we were all EXTREMELY annoyed and upset. I then had to pivot and find something else to do with my daughter and her friends, so we took them bowling. They had a fun time, but wre extremely dissappointed they were unable to swim. I was offered no compensation for the extra costs incurred ($300) due to having to find an alternative to the swimming pool which is an advertised amenity of the hotel and included in the cost i already paid. I hope that management of this hotel will contact me and offer up some for of compensation for the fact they closed off an amenity of the hotel that myself and every other horel guest paid for the use of in order to make a few extra bucks, qhile not informing us. I would have made arraignments at another property had i kmown in advance

The hotel is very old and needs to be refreshed. Carpet is very worn. There is only one elevator and it is very slow. I was not comfortable being outside the hotel due to vagrants in the area

Although dated, a clean and comfortable stay that is on the waterfront. Some construction in the immediate area but nothing of inconvenience. A Thunder Bay landmark and hopefully one that will see it go thru some well-deserved renos.

For the most part I really enjoyed my stay. The beds and rooms were clean. I did find my bed to be super hard so I ended up having to sleep on the couch for the duration. The area around the hotel was iffy, but that's out of the hotels control. There was a very loud disturbance my second night there at around 3am where it sounded like another guest was getting evicted. I understand that's probably a one off and not a common occurrence but to do it in the middle of the night was a little strange. That other person was not going quietly.

The view from the room was beautiful, the beds were comfortable, the suite quite large. The hotel is old, and although some upgrades have been made, it is tired looking. It seems that the hotel is used for regular accommodation for the less fortunate.

It is a unique property with a deep history connecting back to history. It reminds me of the Royal York downtown Toronto.
