Cinnamon Creek Cottage, Sequoia National Park

Nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, just a short drive from the south entrance to Sequoia National Park, Cinnamon Creek Cottage is ideally located for your weekend or week-long getaway! Built in 2004, our cottage is recently refurbished with the vacation traveler in mind. It will comfortably sleep six with an updated master bedroom king bed, guest bedroom queen and pull-out sofa. The kitchen cookware and serving-ware are also all updated and replaced as needed, as are linens and towels and great-room furniture. The house has been updated from top to bottom including a fresh coat of paint.

Our cottage is located in the heart of Three Rivers ranch country. You'll be bordered on one side by a neighboring cattle ranch and have the relaxing sound of the south fork of the Kaweah river drifting in from several hundred yards to the south. Ranch animals and wildlife are abundant. You may well see deer feeding on the back lawn, hear the call of coyotes at dusk or see cattle grazing just a few feet from the east fence. Wild turkey and quail frequent the area. A small stream occasionally flows through the backyard, varying from no more than a trickle to a steady flow depending on rain or irrigation from the ranch next door. You may even have a visit from the neighbors Labrador Retrievers, guinea hens or free-range chickens!

The house is fully furnished with everything you need. Just bring yourselves and food for meals if you plan to cook.

Cinnamon Creek Cottage is owned by a multi-generation family of Sequoia National Park employees and their extended family, and is decorated to reflect this heritage. Several of the owners are nearby should you have need. If available they may meet you upon arrival. If not, a key lockbox is used and you will have the combination, and a Welcome Book will guide you as you set up house.

Landscaping includes citrus trees and a beautiful rose lined fence in the back. The back yard has a large grassy area for play, and a picnic table with a gas grill.

The neighborhood is quiet. Typically the only traffic on South Fork Drive is local residents and occasional hikers, as the road dead-ends at Sequoia Park's Lady Bug Trail. Our cottage is at the base of Cinnamon Creek Canyon, a small mountain valley where many owners raise cattle and horses. Unlike in Three Rivers there is very little tourist activity. At most you may see a few neighbors out for a morning walk, or a cattle trailer or two moving livestock to the valley.

Highway 198 and Three Rivers proper is just a few minutes back down the hill. This pleasant drive takes you to a small town that caters to both locals and park visitors. There are several restaurants, a number of shops and a nice grocery store with all the basics. The south entrance to Sequoia National Park is just north of Three Rivers.

Should you choose to continue your way up South Fork Drive you'll find you are only a few miles from the little-used Lady Bug trail-head at Sequoia National Park. This is an excellent destination for a day hike, and is often used as a starting point for back-country campers.

Another great day trip is Kings Canyon and Mineral King, both part of Sequoia National Park proper. The turnoff is on the way to Sequoia's south gate, and is a winding, very scenic back-road up to an area less frequented by tourists. Take your time, and take a full day's supply of food and drink. There is only one place to stop for supplies on the way up if you've left anything (Silver City, great pie!). It would be a good idea to research a little online so you know what to expect. It is very much worth the trip.

You will pass Lake Kaweah on the way up the hill from Visalia. This is a large man-made reservoir and a favorite destination for boating, swimming, kayaking and fishing.

Attending a destination wedding at Redwood Ranch? We are one of the closest vacation rentals in the area. Just 2.6 miles from driveway to driveway.

Also, please note that we base price for two guests, and add $ 10 per person per night for more than two. This way when we only have one or two using the cottage, they are not paying for a bed and bathroom they do not use.

Our WiFi is strong and reliable, and we offer a small desk in the master bedroom for those who work from home.

Cell signal is AT&T only. Three bars at best.

Please contact us with questions. We'd love to have you visit!

The cottage is spacious, clean, has a beautiful view of the foothills and nature, and is well-stocked. We had planned a hiking trip to Sequoia National Park, but the weather had other plans. We had no problem being "stuck" inside this cozy home!

Wonderful stay at a tremendous location
We loved our short stay here. The place was clean, well equipped and enjoyable. Provisions were very thoughtful and the communication was fantastic with a lot of helpful information about the place, the area and nearby parks. The pizza location mentioned in the materials was fantastic. We would definitely stay again if in the area! Thank you!!

A great place to stay!
My husband, son and I stayed a couple of nights while visiting Sequoia National Park and Kings Canyon National Park. It was a quick drive to the entrance of the park. The cabin was very clean and cozy! The wild baby turkeys were a pleasant surprise to see! We loved this cabin! Thanks Richard!

Great experience. Communication with the host was excellent. The host was easy to communicate with and quickly responded to all of our questions. The house was very clean and well maintained. The location was also great, as it was close to the park entrance and the neighborhood was quiet. We would definitely stay here again.

The property is amazingly CLEAN! Everything looks so new...from the bath towels, kitchen ware, floor, furniture and all the rooms. I felt like we walked into a brand new house! Very comfortable beds with nice quality sheets, pillows and blankets. Spacious rooms and bathrooms. Had everything we needed. We loved it here.

Cinnamon Creek Spring splendor
This property is, if anything, better than advertized. The cottage is clean, well appointed, warm and homey. It is well supplied with towels and blankets. We visited during the last of the atmospheric river rains, but still felt safe and secure. And the area is lovely and off the beaten path. Our host was thoughful, easy to contact, and made us feel very welcome. I can heartily recommend this property to others...but I hope you leave some space for us to return!

The cottage was a delightful place to stay in a beautiful setting. Richard was so helpful with all of my questions. The house was so clean and the kitchen was well stocked for cooking with all of the essentials and then some! We took the opportunity to venture out on one of the local hiking recommendations, and it was just amazing. We would never have known about it had it not been for the helpful list! We loved our stay and will happily return to the cottage!

Perfect Way to See Sequoia National Patk
This property in is a ranching area 10 minutes from Three Rivers. Although there are neighbors you feel like you are in the country. Saw a lot of wildlife. The property owners were great to work with and provided the most detailed instructions and recommendations that I have ever been provided. We used it as a launching area for 2 days at Sequoia and 1 day at Kings Canyon and could not have been happier. Make sure that you follow their recommendations, especially for ice cream! We could not have picked a better location!

Three Rivers/ Sequoia and Kings Canyon
We cannot thank Richard enough for sharing his wonderful home with us. Cinnamon Creek Cottage was impeccably clean and located in a beautiful rural setting. It was calm and peaceful and I highly recommend going out for a walk for anybody staying there. Such a friendly community where the occasional passerby would slow down to wave to you! The home has everything you will need and the owners are amazingly well organized and thorough in all of their instructions. The cottage is very conveniently located for exploring Sequoia National Park. We even made it out to the western portion of Kings Canyon National Park and explored the Grant Grove section. For planning purposes, the Cedar Grove (eastern portion of Kings Canyon National Park) would’ve required at least a two hour trip each way, though it probably would have been worth it! We would also highly recommend spending some time at Lake Kaweah. The highly informative binder for guests at the cottage had information about renting a patio boat at the marina and it turned out to be the highlight of the trip for our kids! We cannot wait to return to this wonderful home!

Positively Wonderful! Charming & Spotless.
During our visit to Sequoia National Park, we stayed at Cinnamon Creek Cottage just outside of Three Rivers, and it proved to be perfect for our family. This completely refurbished single-level home is just miles from the park entrance and is very easy to find. Our family of 5 adults was more than comfortable with the sleeping accommodations that include a generously-scaled master suite with a king sized bed, a second private bedroom with queen bed, plus a high quality queen sleeper sofa and an additional inflatable mattress. The property has a very good layout for families; open, great room concept with large scale sofas for lounging in the evening. Creature comforts include a big screen TV and DVD player with a selection of movies, direct TV, and WIFI. In the kitchen we found every necessary appliance and gadget, incredibly clean and orderly. The owners have thought of everything to make visitors comfortable. We especially liked welcoming touches such as park travel guides and Sequoia Park themed artwork, a stack of home/design magazines and the tasteful contemporary country decor. The hosts who live just two properties over and work inside the park, were eager to answer any questions about our visit to Sequoia National and King’s Canyon Parks. The cottage has a large covered deck with wicker furniture. We spotted a woodpecker and hummingbird within minutes of our arrival. The nightly stargazing was beyond stellar. Our 10 day trip through California took us to several very nice VRBO properties from ocean-front to urban chic, but this was perhaps our favorite. The combination of charming decor and super tidy furnishings, in addition to friendly owner/hosts make this property one we hope to revisit very soon.

Quiet and peaceful
We truly enjoyed the home. The porch was our favorite every morning to have coffee, watch the birds, listen to the cows and chickens. We had a dozen fresh eggs waiting for us when we arrived and we ate every single one of them. It was an awesome location to experience Sequoia and Kings Canyon. All the creature comforts were provided as well. We loved Three Rivers and its history. Thank you so much Richard!
