Your own private adults-only retreat with panoramic views of the Blue Ridge mountains and 3 miles of walking/nature trails. Open floor plan with fully equipped kitchen, and a welcome breakfast. King bed, comfortable living area, dining room, walk-in shower, and satellite TV. Large patio area, gas grill, an outdoor fire pit, and a pond for fishing. Perfect for star-gazers, bird watchers and nature lovers.
Location is ideally situated between Bedford and Roanoke Virginia. Close to the D-Day Memorial, Blue Ridge Parkway, and Smith Mountain Lake.
Dogs are welcome with owner’s permission.

Wonderful hideaway
This is a wonderful get away. We stayed for our anniversary and loved the property. We really appreciated all the extra little touches and that we could bring our dog. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful gem
This cabin is a nice place to get away and relax. Melissa has thought through a a lot and made the weekend wonderful. Or plans were rained out, but we enjoyed staying close to the cabin for most of the day and then venturing out on the trails on the property. This is one of the best Vrbo rentals I’ve been in.

Secluded paradise
The listing was exactly as described. Perfect getaway with stunning views and very private. The cottage was immaculate and had everything we needed. The host was very organized and went the extra mile to leave us with a nice anniversary banner and lots of welcome gifts. Plenty of nature walking trails and a nice outdoor fire pit. I strongly recommend this place for any occasion.

Great cabin.
Me my wife and our 2 dogs went to get some rest away from fireworks and this place did not disappoint. It is exactly the way it states and the owners do go way above expectations to make you feel welcome. If you want to get away and get some quite time this is the place to go. We would definitely stay again.

The property is beautiful, and there are plenty of activities within a 30 minute drive of the cabin. The host was very friendly and responsive. We enjoyed hiking on the maintained trail on the property.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The cabin is cozy, private, and filled with thoughtful touches that make guests feel at home. Our dog loved having private trails all to himself. We’ll be back!

Loved it here, so beautiful inside and out, this place is very clean and so nice and the views around the cabin are beautiful as well the vineyard was so beautiful to walk around. The owners go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable. Awesome place and we will be back!

Peaceful Getaway
We had an excellent stay. The cabin and grounds offered a private and peaceful getaway (which was exactly what we were looking for). The property had trails, a pond, fenced in vineyard, beautiful views and plenty of wildlife ... not to mention farm fresh eggs! The cabin was very well appointed and had everything we needed. Most importantly our dog gave this place a "two paws up" review! Can't rave enough about the hosts! Communication was great and they were readily available if we needed anything. We're already looking forward to our next stay.

Perfect Get Away
This property is perfect to get away from everything. It is so peaceful and quiet! Not only is the property amazing with the vineyard, walking trails and pond full of fish, but the cabin is fantastic. The hostess was extremely nice and helpful. Can recommend this property without hesitation!

Melissa and Phyllis were wonderful. Both are so kind and really made sure my stay with my 2 small dogs was really comfortable. The cabin is gorgeous with a wonderful setup. I slept so peacefully and really enjoyed waking the dogs along the trails on this beautiful property. What a great stay!

Perfect getaway!
I can't say enough good things about this amazing rental and the exceptional hosts. We were looking for a place to unplug and unwind for our anniversary and this absolutely delivered. From the incredible views, the beautiful walks around the property and the privacy, we were able to fully relax and reconnect. And the hosts could teach a Masterclass in hospitality as they go above and beyond! We can't wait to visit again.

Dogs heaven on earth
The cabin is just as beautiful as the photos. Everything was so organized, well labeled and prepared for guests. The property was so private and the scenery of the vineyard was amazing. We enjoyed walking through the fenced in vineyard with our dogs several times a day and didn’t have to worry about them running off.

Perfection!
This was our third stay at the cabin, and our third season to experience there. We have visited in the Summer, Fall and Spring and each time has been fantastic! I can't begin to express how exceptional the hosts are when we come to stay. The little touches that make this the perfect vacation show how much they care about their guests. If I could give an even higher rating, I would! We will definitely continue to be returning guests!!

Great Time!
I had to work in Roanoke so my wife and I decided to head down together. It was an easy commute for me to get into Roanoke for work but was also very serene. We brought my dog and he absolutely loved it as well!

Fall retreat
This was our second stay at the cabin, and it was as great as the first. The hosts make the cabin the perfect getaway. We have the luxury of feeling completely away from the rest of the world, hiking the trails at the cabin and taking in the incredible views; but also close enough to go explore orchards, have BBQ at a local brewery, or visit one of the local wineries or cideries that are nearby if we prefer. It's truly the best of both worlds!

Lovely cabin
This was a lovely cabin with lots of amenities! There were some prominent cobwebs throughout the cabin, but that was the only thing that detracted from an otherwise pristine place. There is no wifi, and cell service in the cabin was spotty, which was a bonus but worth knowing in advance. Great location for wineries and hiking!

Amazing cabin
This cabin is exactly as good as the pictures make it look, possibly better. It is super private, the cabin is the perfect size for 2 (plus some furry friends if you bring them along). The hosts have everything you could need minus food at the house. There is a ton of stuff to do in the area no matter what your interests are. We will be back and highly recommend this to anyone looking for some quiet time away.

A Quiet Retreat
Staying at Melissa and Phyllis's cabin was a complete delight! The cabin had everything you could think of needing and the hosts were responsive to any questions or concerns. The cabin was well stocked and had personal touches added to make the stay even more enjoyable - fresh eggs from their hens, welcome notes, bowl/bedding for my pup, etc. The property itself was beautiful and we spent the day walking the trails and down near the pond. It was a restful time away and I look forward to returning!

Our Go To Place To Relax
I think this was about our 5th stay at Shady Grove. We like the privacy of the very large property and the hiking trails. From this location we can go to the Blue Ridge Parkway for hiking or Smith Mountain Lake, Bedford, and it isn't far from Roanoke where we visit friends.We just learned that Roanoke has a hockey team so our next visit may include a hockey game. Melissa and Phyllis are excellent hosts and no other VRBO that we have stayed at ever had the little extras that they do. We hope to come back again soon.
