The Sun Room is on the western side of the main house, on a beautiful 2 acre property on the edge of the tiny desert community of Tecopa, California. This quaint room has been made with peace and quiet in mind. One bed, a dresser, and quirky nautical memorabilia await inside. Look out the windows, and you will find a beautiful, sprawling desert landscape. The scenic Amargosa Wetlands border the property, and the mountains in the distance belong to the wondrous Death Valley National Park.
The space
There is a small bathroom on the other side of the house, next to a washing machine, and a clothesline. On the southern edge of the property, there are three open-air tubs, each with direct access to the healing hot spring waters the area is known for. Treat yourself to a relaxing soak, and soak in the breathtaking views!
High-speed internet is provided via Starlink, and will be the only means of communication with the outside world while at the property. Most establishments in Tecopa offer Wi-Fi, but the town has no cell service, which is considered to be one of the major draws of the area.
The water in the area has a very high mineral content, and is suitable for washing, showering, and soaking, but we advise visitors to bring plenty of drinking/cooking water. In this hot, arid climate, it is recommended that you drink twice as much water as you normally would.
We are an adults-only destination, and regrettably cannot accommodate children or pets, for their safety. Coyotes, rattlesnakes, scorpions, and quicksand are all parts of this incredible destination we get to call “home,” and must be treated with reverence.
Other things to note
Visitors are encouraged to enjoy the surrounding bird sanctuary, take a trip to the famous China Ranch Date Farm, and explore the dozens of hiking trails in and around Tecopa. The town sits near the edge of the beautiful and mysterious Death Valley National Park, which has plenty of amazing trails for all experience levels, and countless opportunities for once in a lifetime photography.
The town of Shoshone, about 10 minutes up the road, has a general store, a gas station, a museum and gift shop, and the Crowbar Cafe & Saloon. Pahrump, NV is the nearest vestige of civilization that can meet all your needs, at about 40 minutes away. Las Vegas is only an hour and a half away, and has Trader Joe’s, an International Marketplace, and a fabulous, extravagant nightlife.
