We booked two nights at this hotel. We contacted them a couple of days before arrival to arrange a taxi from the airport and to confirm our reservation, and it turns out they had changed our reservation to another hotel. A quick online search confirmed we DID NOT want to stay at this other hotel, so we called back and they said we couldn't stay with them because they were fully booked. In the end we just showed up at the Grand Orzu and they gave us a room for the night - so apparently they did have space. The whole thing was dodgy.
The first room we stayed in was a triple. The room was ok - bathroom was functional, if not fantastic or overly modern, and the two twin beds were fine. The third 'bed' was a very uncomfortable pull-out sofa. Additionally the AC was broken (it was 40 degrees that day.. AC would have been nice.) The second night we were moved to two double rooms. These were fine, although our bathroom door didn't close.
The hotel itself seems reasonably safe. The wifi is good in some places, but useless in others - it depends which part of the building you are in. The staff was nice, although not overly sympathetic to broken AC and other issues. The breakfast was fine - a typical buffet of bread, cheese, veggies and melons.
Overall I would say it wasn't the worst place I've ever stayed, but for the money you can get MUCH better in Tashkent. Try somewhere else. If you do book here, call to confirm you haven't been rebooked elsewhere.
