Would you like to stay in a place once owned by a king that in recent times has been a winery? In the country, surrounded by vineyards and olive trees, but five minutes from the nearest town? In a large apartment housed in ancient stone but with all of the modern conveniences? Then stay here!
This is a large apartment on two floors in an old building with thick stone walls, beautifully decorated, very comfortable, with modern amenties. Paintings by Cécile’s artist husband adorn the walls. Upstairs there are two bedrooms and a bathroom with shower (minus the toilet, which is downstairs). The ground floor has a full kitchen, including full-size refrigerator, a spacious dining area, and a laundry room with washing machine and drying rack. Good Wi-Fi is available.
The apartment is part of a larger compound owned by Cécile’s family. It is rural and peaceful, yet the town of Tarascon is nearby should you need groceries or other supplies. Or an emergency visit to a dentist, which with Cécile’s help was arranged quickly! Tarascon is centrally located and an excellent base for exploring Provence.
Cécile lives next door, in the other half of the same building, with her husband and son. They are quiet; you’d probably never see any them if that were your choice. But you would be missing out. Cécile is a delight. She made us feel as though we were staying at a friend’s house. She is warm and generous; she can speak French or English, or both, as you wish, and she is patient with those of us whose French is primitive. She responds promptly to communications and is happy to help if help is needed.
Within these fine old walls, among the vines, and made to feel at home by our host: we cannot recommend the experience too highly.
Merci beaucoup Cécile. Meilleurs voeux à vous, Dahai et Louis. Nous avons passé un séjour très agréable et espérons revenir et avoir le plaisir de vous revoir! Jusque là. Rick et Katherine
