There are many houses in Taos for visitors to choose from, but this one stands out for its authenticity and charm. Built by men from the Taos Pueblo in the 1940's for the artist Charles H. Reynolds and his wife Ruth, it is unique and very lovely.
The home is furnished with many of the original antiques, and the walls are hung with paintings by Reynolds and many of his contemporaries. You will feel as if you have stepped back in time, surrounded by thick adobe walls and hand carved beams in the ceilings. The fireplace crackles with pinion wood fires in the winter, scenting the air with its fragrance.
Modern amenities include a high efficiency heater, high speed internet, comfortable beds, and a well equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and microwave oven. There is a washer and dryer and supplies available for your convenience.
One bedroom has a queen bed, the small sunroom has a twin bed, and there is a sweet cubby with another twin bed. The bathroom is finished with Mexican tile work and has a tub and a shower. There is a large shady porch for dining in the summer, and a fenced courtyard for privacy.
All this, and only a short walk to great restaurants and galleries. Leave the car parked and stroll around the quiet neighborhood, or to the Taos Plaza for the Farmer's Market and live music.
The Taos Ale House and the very popular Michael's Kitchen are only a block away. This is a new listing so there are only a few reviews, but to see the larger side and it's reviews please go to VRBO #296467. For a large group of up to nine people the entire house can be rented.
Please take note, this house has a unique architecture which includes steps and low doorways in a couple of areas. There is signage to warn of this, but tall people must use caution.
