Our Bamboo Roost is perched high above the gardens, and hidden behind a screen of living bamboo. This place offers a warm, cozy feel with heart wood pine throughout the main living space. The porch provides privacy behind a tall wall of bamboo. The Roost offers guests a small kitchen and private half bath, a bedroom and a pull-out couch for extra sleeping space. The Roost sits on the forest edge, in the middle of the farm, offering our guests easy access to explore our sanctuary. It is the second story of our bath house with access to complete bathrooms on the first floor. This is a perfect place to experience our farm while having a quiet space for reading, contemplation, and fascinating conversation. Please note that the wood stove is no longer in the unit.
You’ll love Kaluna because of our organic Farm, our location close to Atlanta and the mountains. Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids). Check out our special experiences, and come share the good life with us! Drink fresh spring water, snack on wild and cultivated greens, and enjoy the action of farm life in a beautiful mountain holler! Sit by a fire under the stars, volunteer in the gardens, or bike and hike nearby trails! We are the sixth generation to homestead this beautiful land. Our history is colorful, and so are our fields. This is a magical place to those who love lush bottom lands and creeks galore. We have several pre-civil war log cabins, a round house, greenhouses, orchards, chickens, friendly farm animals, and much more. Our spring is famous for delicious refreshing water goodness.
We are close to Atlanta and many trails in the Ellijay area. And Carter's lake is around the corner. This is a beautiful natural get-away and active farm. If you need more space, we also have Kaluna's Authentic Off-the-grid Log Cabin, Kaluna’s Treehouse Sanctuary and Kaluna’s Wooden Yurt also listed on AirBnB. Guest are welcome to explore the farm as long as they can stay on paths and out of garden beds. We do ask that you do not enter buildings that you are not occupying, unless invited in by others. We are an active farm with small children. So we are in and out everyday. There aren't many days where you will not find us doing something on the farm.
We will be moving through the farm on a pretty regular basis. We hope to engage you when possible. And we welcome help if you have an eye for detail and the ability to follow directions. Farming can be fun and healing. We are close to many wonderful outdoor areas and vineyards. The Talking Rock Nature Preserve is home to 5+ miles of hiking/mountain biking trails and is located in our neighborhood. This is a good jump off point for Carter's lake, the Cohutta Wilderness, and many hiking and biking trails. Using GPS to get to the farm can be tricky. Please note the following: We have additional spaces available for rent: Kaluna's Authentic Off-the-grid Log Cabin (sleeps one couple), Kaluna’s Wooden Yurt (sleeps up to 8 people) and Kaluna's Treehouse Sanctuary (sleeps one couple).
