"Our family stayed over for a night at the hotel to visit Daisetsuzan. Hotel is very close to the cable car in small town of Sounkyo. We were there at off-season so it was quiet. Hotel is bit old but its a nice experience to stay in traditional Japanese accommodation. Rooms and tatami mattress were fine and fits in 4 people (albeit bit tight). "Sounkyo is a quaint little resort town with not much in the way of facilities, but this hotel helps make up for that. They provided dinner and breakfast so I didn't have to worry about finding a restaurant in the freezing cold. They also have a hot spring, a place to chill and play billiards, and even a movie showing every night in which I regrettably could not partake. I also stayed during Sounkyo's Ice Waterfall Festival, which was marvelous and a bit different from the other winter festivals...
