For the nightly price of a decent Seattle hotel room, we were able to host a 3-day family reunion of 12 adults, and were absolutely delighted with our choice to stay at this house.
The large kitchen is well-equipped to accommodate large groups, including the 19 people who were there for lunch and dinner on Saturday. There are plenty of dishes, and the folding table and extra chairs were very helpful.
The house was very clean, the beds were comfortable, and Mike was a most gracious and accommodating host. He is a prompt and friendly communicator, and when I inadvertently left behind the pitcher to my Vitamix blender (potentially very expensive to replace, yikes), he graciously had it shipped to me almost immediately. Truly, it was a pleasure working with him from beginning to end, and I heartily recommend this property.
As others have reported, the surrounding neighborhood is a little rough around the edges, but folks generally keep to themselves and it was all fine. There is a really lovely park a few blocks up with a fountain, walking paths, and a botanical conservatory. Family groups walked up there several times without any issues, and one group had a pleasant walk Sunday morning to a nearby church.
Do be aware that there is no curb-side parking immediately in front of the house. There are 3 dedicated parking spots behind the house however (do watch for potential trip hazards, especially at the top of the cement steps leading up from the rear parking), and plenty of street parking immediately around the corner just one house down. It was never a problem.
The house is very convenient home-base from which to visit the Art and Glass museums and the LeMay car museum which was very cool. We also enjoyed an afternoon at Point Defiance which is just a short 25 minute drive. It would be a convenient place to stay for families with a loved one in the nearby hospital as well. There is a shopping area 15-20 min way by car that has a Trader Joe's, large Safeway, and a Rite Aid all together. A small Safeway is 5-7 minutes away if you need to replenish a few items.
In summary, this house is a tremendous find for families and groups, especially adults and older children or teens. It served our needs very well, and everyone was quite happy with their stay.
