Amazing well-maintained property. This stay was everything advertised and more. Quite the amazing little house in the mountains. Highly recommend
Lovely property that we really enjoyed staying at…would stay here again for sure. Michael the property manager was very informative and is clearly striving to support a very pleasant stay! Convenient for hiking in the National Park and a great place all around
Perfect accommodation for enjoying Shenandoah National Park & getting away from home & a busy lifestyle. Very relaxing, quiet & peaceful. Nice property layout & touches!
The cabin is very cool and well maintained. It has all the amenities you could think of. The property is very quiet and relaxing. The kids loved the swing!!
the house is absolutely terrific. it is extremely well kept, fully stocked, well appointed and comfortable. the grounds are beautiful and there is a peacefulness to the whole place. there were several hikes close by so the location is great. would stay there again in a heartbeat.
The house was just as described. The hosts have gone above and beyond to provide everything guests may want and need - the place is very thoughtfully planned and stocked! Super convenient location for where we planned to hike. Michael was super helpful. Highly recommend!
The property and grounds were amazing. The owner and caretaker takes pride in his property and shepherding his guests. Wonderful experience and plan to return.
Michael was wonderful from the beginning to the end. The house was beautiful, quite comfortable and centrally located to all of the activities we chose. We would all highly recommend this property to anyone!
This home is immaculately clean, has many upgrades, is very comfortable and includes many amenities! Kitchen is fantastic! Host is friendly and has great attention to detail. Location was very convenient for excellent hiking, winery, tours, horseback riding, etc. this is a great stay!
Peaceful stay at this fully appointed home. Everything you need for a stress free getaway. From check in to checkout, the host made everything effortless. The attention to detail for every part of the stay was outstanding.
Fantastic location, fantastic house. Our second time staying here, but definitely not our last. Visited a couple of local breweries, went antique shopping, climbed Old Rag, enjoyed sitting on the deck and reading. Highly recommend!
Eco friendly cabin perfect for peace and quiet. Extremely helpful owner who made sure all our needs were met. If you want to get away for a few days of solitude this is the place
Very beautiful architected home with superb artwork, furnishing and views. The property is lovely and extremely private, and it's very close to some of the best hiking in Shenandoah National Park. Our host Michael was very complete in his communication, and everything went smoothly. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to return.
Was a wonderful trip to get a way for a few days and enjoy the outdoors. The host, Michael, is extremely friendly and knowledgeable of all the key places you’ll not want to miss out on. The home is beautiful, clean and quiet. I wish we had more time to spend and explore the area. Hoping to have a repeat trip in the future with more than three days to spend in the area. Thank you Michael!
My family really enjoyed our stay at this property. It was very clean and well appointed. The kitchen had everything we needed as well. The owner is very communicative. He takes great pride in this house as he should. It’s beautiful.
We just loved this beautiful home and the private setting. Most days we had deer and their fawns come eat from the apple tree while we enjoyed the screened porch.
The home had every amenity we could hope for and it was beautifully decorated. The owners were wonderful and supportive even though our travel plans got rerouted several times due to airline mishaps.
Supplies and a nice restaurant were 5 minutes away and more extensive choices were only 20 minutes away in Madison. But we especially enjoyed the easy access to Shenandoah National Park.
This house is very much more than advertised. Michael gave us a tour of the house which gave us a sense of what was available and where everything was located. The kitchen was well provided - not that we used it very much - we were out most of the days and got meal while we were running around.
Everyone was impressed with the house and pleased that we Michael would share it with us.
Thanks Michael.
What a wonderful, beautiful place to spend time with family. Everything was laid out perfectly, and the attention to detail was meticulous. The owner was attentive to our needs, and gave
us a tour of the house and history of the area before we settled in. The backyard swing allowed our older teen and young adult child to play. We were super close to White Oak Canyon Trail, and old rag as well as Graves Mountain Lodge, which we hit on the way out for a delicious breakfast. Beds were cozy, adult coloring books and games provided entertainment and kitchen was stocked for all our cooking needs. We will be back!
Perfect weekend getaway to Shenandoah. The house was beautiful, perfectly set up for two couples and fully stocked with everything we needed. The grounds were gorgeous especially the field in back where we would gaze at the stars and the firefly show at night. Spectacular! The house is perfectly located near some of the best hikes in Shenandoah including White Oak Canyon and Old Rag. Lastly, Michael was the perfect host. He made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and was always available for questions and inquiries. Looking forward to rerturing this summer,
I have stayed in many VRBO rentals. All of them were good in some ways and not in others. This was the best in all categories. The property is perfect for those who want privacy. The furnishings are comfortable and plentiful. There are outlets in all the right places. The lighting was soft, inviting and customizable. For someone who cooks and never eats out, the kitchen was very well equipped and with quality pots/pans, silverware, sharp knives, etc. Michael was a super great host and very communicative.
We wanted to visit this area and we found this gem contemporary cabin to stay at while we hiked and enjoyed some of the best Virginia state has to offer. The accommodations were everything we wanted: clean, modern, spacious, easy, very well furnished and great attention to detail to make our stay comfortable, enjoyable, restful and easy.
We stayed four nights over Memorial Day weekend. We usually get homesick for our own bed after two nights, but not this time. The bed was very comfortable. Everything was clean and the stay was refreshing and restful.
We hiked and explored the Luray Caverns and local restaurants and vineyards and it was always a pleasure to return to the Hideaway at day’s end for a quiet night to rest.
Our host Michael was so very accommodating and hospitable and made us all feel secure and informed for our stay exploring and enjoying the area. There was nothing we wanted for during the stay.
We look forward to another stay at the Hideaway in Syria, VA for our next exploratory visit to the Shenandoah Park and adjacent areas. We highly recommend this place and Michael the host.
The house was beautiful, extremely comfortable, well-furnished and appointed for our needs (all the kitchen/laundry essentials), and the homeowners were extremely responsive (a branch came down after a storm obstructing the driveway and they had it cleared within an hour of my text). They had also prepared detailed binders with information on the area (attractions and eating locations). The property was also very private sitting well within the 30-acre lot it was built in.
For full disclosure, there is zero cell reception, the satellite WiFi caps out at around 10Mb (and goes out with significant weather), and the homeowner is likely to want to meet with you at the beginning/end of your stay. I don't consider that latter a negative at all (he was extremely courteous and helpful), but if you're the reclusive type that doesn't want any interaction just be aware.
All in all we had a fantastic stay, were very close to what we wanted (Old Rag and a few other hiking/winery spots), and will absolutely opt to stay here again if available.
To celebrate his 25th birthday, my son and I went to stay at Michael and Elizabeth’s spectacular cabin in the mountains. Everything was perfect!!! To start, Michael’s efficient and thoughtful communication couldn’t have been better. When he found out our goal was to hike in the nearby Shenandoah Mountains, he forwarded new permit information that was critical. From the ready to go firepit behind the house complete with marshmallow roasters to the toiletries and thoughtful snacks, we had everything we needed. I credit Michael too with the beautiful family of deer who greeted us at bedtime one night as well as the lovely dusting of morning snow- what planning!!! We also followed his recommendation to go to Culpeper, VA for dinner where we had a lovely meal. Beautiful historic town!
The great thing about their cabin is that you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere, but the access is very easy- no treacherous mountain roads. You’re also surprisingly close to restaurants and activities. And then the “cabin” is even more beautiful than the pictures. Clean, lovely decorating touches (we got some great ideas) with every space thoughtfully designed. Comfortable beds, great linens and light and very well stocked kitchen.
Can’t wait to come back and stay longer!!!
