"We checked in a little late but this was not a problem as we called ahead. We found Eagle Lodge with ease. The lodge was clean and everything we could need. However, we did have to purchase air freshener as the lodge had a strong musty smell but it soon disappeared once we had been there for a couple of day'. The kitchen is very compact but more than useable. All rooms are a good size. The furniture is a mish mash. And I think some of it could actually belong in a museum but it was all...

"Het huisje is oud en authentiek ingericht. Super netjes schoon en fijn ingedeeld. Aan alle dingen was gedacht. Matten voor de vieze schoenen, schone wasmachine en een zachte vloer. Heerlijke douche! We zijn gedurende ons verblijf bijna de estate niet af geweest. Op de 22 hectare grond die erbij hoort kan je heerlijk wandelende en zie je om iedere hoek een stuk gescheideners of vervallen ruïne "

"Property was spotless, beds comfortable, Wi-Fi very good, kitchen well equipped, though none of the odds and end like salt and pepper often found in a self catering place so take absolutely everything you need with you. Perfect wee village- pub excellent with a limited choice of pretty good pub grub and less than a 100yard stagger away! Lovely walks on the doorstep and beautiful scenery, and sheep."

"We had the loveliest time, really felt away from it all, lots of lovely walks nearby. Magical"

"We loved everything about our stay at Townhead from the glorious views to the cozy and thoughtfully planned house. Communication with the manager and the housekeeping staff before and during the stay was prompt and kind. The welcome drinks and food meant we didn’t have to run into Peebles when we first arrived. We unpacked and would have happily stayed much (much!) longer than a week. It’s a wonderful area to walk and explore but really, you’ll want to stay home and read or write or draw....

"We were a group aged nine to eighty. There was a lot on offer to cater for us all. There were nine of us and the place was big enough for us to spread out and enjoy varying activities. A bus stop outside going into Edinburgh was a bonus. Would highly recommend it. Does Scotland proud!"

The facilities were a bit mixed - The living room tv was not working but this was sorted quite quickly. "Little gem of a place. Inside all new. Well stocked kitchen with all pans /utensils you might need. Log burner will heat the whole house so very little central heating required. Hot tub also log fired and we were surprised how quickly it heated the water. Sitting in it at night was a joy. Really good experience"
