Great house for large family
The cabin is large, plenty of room. Definitely needs some updates on lighting and shower fixtures. The hot tub needs maintenance, and different heating source needed downstairs. Property management/cleaning management also definitely needs improvement. This is a pet friendly house and it shows.

Systemic issues need correction
Yes, we enjoyed our vacation because I have a great family. No - although the house is situated in a pleasant spot, convenient to area attractions (Cherokee), with wonderful neighbors (thank you Janice! and Rodney!) - we cannot recommend staying at the Lodge unless the owner makes important changes. We did not have A/C because the system is broken and needs to be fully replaced. There is no landline and no cell service anywhere in the neighborhood. Internet is limited and would not allow VOIP calls from cell phones. The washing machine circuit was not functional and I had to wash laundry in the sink. The room with twin bunk beds is not a bedroom since there is no egress window. We took all of our trash home because the garbage cans were filled up and trash was not collected on schedule. After our stay, I corrected the Google Maps location on behalf of the owners, because initially we got stuck down the wrong driveway. These are only the top issues of a 17 point list. After spending the vacation and several days afterwards chatting with VACASA, we did gratefully receive a partial refund. But the discount, nice lodge porch, and a bed for each family member, was not sufficient to make up for the systemic issues that need correction and that likely were present/known to VACASA prior to our arrival.

WCU College Tour
This was a great location for us to not only tour the college but to experience the mountains. Primitive road to get to the home could be quite the experience at night and I am very glad we arrived in daylight! The kids had a great time exploring and our dog was very happy to have a fenced in area to run free.

Owners need to check on this property
Our group of six chose this cabin because of the privacy and the amenities. It is a beautiful cabin with great views of a small creek and fun moose decor. It was easy to find And the road up wasn’t too bad but you do need a larger vehicle

Great mountain getaway
We had an incredible time at the cabin! Finding it in the rain and dark was a bit interesting, but it is beautifully kept, clean, organized, and has all the kitchen must haves. Plenty of room for a small group of two like us or a larger group. Would definitely come back! Lots to do around the area.

Great Mountain Getaway - Close to WCU - Great for Graduation
Great Mountain Getaway with everything fully equipped. A few suggestions for a better stay - add map drawing at the property to the website and definitely stress 4 wheel drive and not arriving at night. We are from the county and got turned around ourselves. Please double check the number of guests and provide additional supplies especially toilet paper so the guests will not have to purchase on their own. Please check all bedding just to make sure that no light sand or dirt might not be in the sheets or on top of the bed, especially if previous renter had pets as that could have easily happened. Overall, GREAT stay and would stay again!

We would definitely stay again!
We enjoyed our stay here. It was very clean and well stocked on basic things as well as linen and kitchen items. We were disappointed that a jacuzzi was listed as a perk, it was "out of order" when we arrived. The only complaint in regards to cleanliness was the master tub, the jets had nasty black stuff flaking off of them when the tub was used, so we couldn't use it. I emailed the company and received no acknowledgement which was frustrating. Otherwise, the place was beautiful and well kept, lovely neighborhood and convenient to everything.

Not exactly what was advertised
OK, lots of mixed feelings. Arrived and the lockbox didn't work. No cell service so we had to drive back out of the neighborhood (not trivial) to call. They had given us the wrong number. The new one did work. The furniture and decor were a bit dated (not a huge problem) but was pretty uncomfortable (more of a problem). And it is a pretty tight space. Definitely smaller than the pictures look. Old, disfunctional, rusty hot tub on the back porch. It was advertised as being an amenity. When we emailed about it they said it wasn't listed anymore. It was. And it was listed in the check-in book along with instructions on how to use it. Also a large wood burning stove--also not working--took up most of the space in the living room. The firepit was a nice addition and we used it a lot. Problem was that on our last day when we had planned a fire and cookout the lawn service arrived and 10 and worked blowing leaves (in a forest???) until ~ 5:30.

Disappointed
Upon arrival the home had many cobwebs in the hallways and dust covered most of the bedroom furniture heavily. I planned to grill the first night there and all the propane bottles were empty. In addition to this the hot tub was not working. Upon calling the management company they asked ME to contact someone to fix it who had no clue who this home belonged to and had no contract to do such. The pictures and layout shown in the listing gave a different impression as well to what was available for sleeping arrangements. Two of the rooms were very small. It is a very remote location as well which wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. It did have lots of deck space to hang out and we opted to not use the fire pit as there was no fire ring on the lower deck for it either, just a few cinder blocks to put the fire on basically. Overall the experience left much to be desired.

When I tried to contact the property manager I was on the phone for over 2 and 1/2 hours and was never able to check in to the property. I ended up losing money on this stay and have yet to be compensated for the trouble I went through with them.
