This is not an easy place to rate as there is a big gap between the facilities and the service.
It is a very cute place, with striking attention to detail which goes to Stephen and Jacqui's credit. Every room has everything you could possibly wish for, including a well stocked minibar, well appointed bathroom, some books, magazines, and even some first aid kit! The house is in a beautiful garden which grows gorgeous roses that you will see in the room and throughout the house.
All this could only be achieved under Stephen's watchful eye clearly but his manner, as many reviews suggest on all travel websites, isn't the most easy-going or welcoming. We were absolutely sure of his good intentions and aim to provide the best information, but it was done in a very forceful manner that could have made it tiring at times. When we arrived, there was no warm welcome - we first got told off for arriving late (9pm - even though we sent an email), then we got told off for parking the car on the road, then for checking in only for one night. When we got to the room we were given an excessively detailed overview of the room (we do know how to open the fridge, what slippers look like and how to use a shower). We were also told to make sure we dry all the area around the shower if we do happen to splash some water around.... We took it with a sense of humour as we understood it was all done out of care and attention to detail but it can be tiresome to be always lectured as a guest.
