"This place is amazing. Its right next to the center of the Hirafu town where all the action (food) and transportation is. Lawson also right next door. Rooms are small but smartly designed, I felt more comfortable here than in many other larger hotel rooms. Staff was friendly and wanting to go above and beyond to help me get out of a jam when there were no taxis in town."

It is super spacious (163 m²), over two floors, with three bathrooms including a huge onsen-style bath for the whole family, and a well-equipped kitchen. "Very clean, good value for money, excellent service, great area near the bus stop and a couple of restaurants and a bakery. The only thing we didn’t enjoy was the couch and beds were quite uncomfortable. Although hard beds are common in Japan, we all found these ones to be very hard, the couch was also uncomfortable which was a shame after a day of skiing all you want is to be comfortable. We would stay here again though, but next time we’d bring some air beds to put on top of the mattresses."

"Lovely property and staff. However, there is a overwhelming sulfuric/sewage smell issue, particularly in the bedrooms and the water that comes from the bathtub in the suite. The only solution is propping windows and doors open at all times. Though the smell may be attributable to the neighboring onsen facilities, the smell is too strong to be acceptable. If the Maples could figure out how to fix this, it would be a perfect stay."
