Loved The Stay
Every thing was just as advertised. Great stay in the hills with wonderful seclusion. Quite, where one can be with nature. We loved hearing the wild turkeys and creek off in the distance. Easy drive to and from town. Park and load/unload right at the front door. Hot tub was wonderful. .

Fastastic Property
This was our 2nd time staying at the Red House. We love all the amenities and privacy. The downstairs is spacious, and a great place for family time. The upstairs is more of a loft with several beds good for children, a foosball table, and a TV. There's an additional bedroom with a queen bed off the loft area. Our favorite part about this property is the hot tub. Our host was very accommodating, and we highly recommend this property to everyone looking to stay in the area.

Lovely Red House
The red house is a wonderful home away from home. It is far from any neighbors, so we had all the privacy we could ask for. The deck is great, and the hot tub is awesome. There were renovations occurring in the upstairs bathroom which would have been challenging for a larger group, but our family of three had no problems sharing the one bathroom.

Wonderful Property
We really enjoyed our stay. We would recommend a portable A/C unit in the upstairs and downstairs bedrooms and in the downstairs living area. We all agreed that we would rent the property again, just not when it's over 85 degrees. The hot tub was not used (water was too warm on a hot weekend) but the location is up a hill and gives a view of the property. I reached out to property owner before our trip and she was responsive and friendly, which is also a reason we would book here again.

Great stay
The house and property are fantastic! There were lots of places for a group to relax and spread out. The setting is very serene and the home tucked away. Make sure to share the private directions with all of your guests ahead of time, as all of our maps said the address was another home along the main driveway and cell reception was down once we got into the area. This property is a must if you want to stay in the Sutter Creek area. Don't miss it!

The house is set up for relaxation. The TV is upstairs so there's a large area for visiting or reading downstairs. There are three choices for dinning, inside, on the covered deck, and out on a patio area by a vine and trellis. That one reminded me of Italy. We visited during 100* weather. The drawback we found was the lack of air conditioning downstairs, but there is upstairs. There's a fan system running through the floor vents, ceiling fans and other fans around the house to move the air. And it cools off at night when you open up the house. I would like to stay in cooler weather, I think it would be a fun place to stay with friends. The kitchen was stocked with spices and kitchen utensils. Overall it was a pleasant place to stay.

Highly recommended
This house is wonderful! We found it to be spotless, secluded and very well stocked. The layout was perfect for myself and two kids. We arrived at the tail end of a heat wave but between the fans (courteously turned on before we arrived) and the well designed layout, it cooled down fairly quickly. The interior is simple, beautiful and extremely comfortable. The kitchen and bathroom were well stocked with all those little things you might forget to pack. The creek was pretty low though deep enough to submerge your whole body to escape the heat. The nearby Mokelumne river is a great spot for a swim. Louise was quick to respond and her instructions and directions were clear and simple. All in all, it was a fantastic rental.

Nice property
It was a challenge to find the place. But, the privacy was worth it. Very quiet and nice walking trails. Bring water shoes for the creek and to get to the hot tub. We were there on hot days. AC would have been nice. Cooled down at night so no problem. Overall, great for kids and adults.

Gold country retreat and gem
My girlfriend and I stayed at this beautiful cabin for a month in March. Although our stay began on a bit of a dramatic crazy note (make sure you get the 4 digit access codes from Louise ahead of time!!!), it quickly transformed into a peaceful and unbeatable stay. From the wood burning stove, to the unforgettable deck hot tub, to being surrounded by tall oak trees and sounds of Sutter Creek nearby, there are so many reasons to fall in love with this place. It is remote, as soon as you pass the quaint town of Sutter Creek you will shortly lose reception, so make sure to download offline maps. However, the internet is fantastic. I worked remotely for a whole month and I don’t recall the internet crashing even once. Speed is solid too. There are ton of amenities and the beds are super comfortable. The shower had good water pressure. The kitchen is very well stocked, only gripe is the dishwasher didn’t clean very well. The location is pretty remote, it’s about a 15 minute drive to the nearest Safeway, but honestly that’s part of the appeal. You can really disconnect and get away from it all if you want. Louise is an awesome host - quick communication and is very straightforward to deal with and is very genuine and to the point. Needs to update the house manual though and make sure the check-in instructions are up to date. Thanks for a great stay, we’ll definitely be back!

Nature at your front, and back door! The nature trails, sound of flowing water from the creek and natural lighting in the open house design gave a serenity not easily found in today’s loud, busy world. The house is very comfortable but the back porch has an abundance of space as well as furniture to spend time outdoors. The serenity and seclusion of the house is also very safe, landline in place as well as respectful neighbors. Phone calls are easily made if one has a smart phone utilize WiFi calling, and no issues ( I have Verizon). WiFi was excellent. Beds were very comfortable. Shower water pressure terrific. There are multiple trails, the one straight down the hill leads to the flowing creek, to the left of that on the top , but down the side hill leads to a waterfall ( was dry -not the rainy season) when I was there, and the one at the very top of the driveway leads around to the hot tub. Plenty of driveway area for multiple cars ( I towed a cargo trailer 8x10 and turned it around no issues. You will get directions from owner follow those not GPS for AFTER crossing narrow bridge, as the house is further up the hill. I stayed there several weeks and absolutely loved the place!

Nice out of the way retreat to unplug and unwind from the real world.
We had a total of 6 people (2 kids, 4 adults) at the house, and it accommodated all of us nicely. Wi-Fi is excellent, but there is no cell phone service, so it makes it a little difficult to plan get-togethers without going into town. We did see deer and the fish in the creek were great fun for the kids. I liked the country feel. The whole house and grounds need a good cleaning. We had ants in the bathroom and on the kitchen counters and found a wasp in the bathroom. There was nothing in the way of a cleaning cloth to wipe down counters and tables. We bought some ourselves instead of using paper towels. Some one should go through the pantry and refrigerator to clean up the expired condiments and spices left by to other guests. We arrived on a day that was 105 degrees. It took a while for the house to cool down. Especially the upstairs. A couple of window AC units would probably be beneficial to guests and to the life of the house. All in all we had a wonderful stay at Red House and would recommend it to those who like country living. Thank you to our host for allowing us to take part in your quiet little oasis. The Steinfeldts

Comfortable but dirty..reason I loved it was because the family was together
When we got there the coffee pot had coffee in it and the grounds were full of mold... we had to put boiling water in it to clean.... refrig was dirty..... someone had made what looked like pancakes and the dried batter was flung all over which we had to scrap off and clean... the dish drainer had dirty forks in it and was dirty itself... the place needs a thorough cleaning... big dust balls under the beds and behind the couches (I dropped an earring and had to go looking for it)... My son (who's house is high tech so understands these things) could not get the TV to work so we missed the Warrior championship final game as well as the Preakness where a triple crown winner was declared... so disappointing. No one could use their cell phones... we connected with the wi-fi so if you have something important going on you need to have the landline number which wasn't given to us. The tables are dirty so take tablecloths. Overall we had a good weekend just being together and it's fun to "play" in the creek... there are no horseshoes and the pit needs work. We had wanted to play. The house is old and a eclectic mix of decor and furniture. The only wash cloths we found were badly stained. If the owner is going to try to make money off this place they need to spend some. And our paying a cleaning fee is a joke as we spent a lot of time cleaning before we settled in. It is well supplied with linens and kitchenware but everything is very old and obviously has seen better days.... think that they probably bought a lot of it used. The beds were comfortable but they have a strange bed set up in the master... headboard doesn't match the mattress. Very little lighting so if you want to read at night you're kinda out of luck. Like the location and the weather was fantastic. The Gold Dust pizza downtown Sutter Creek has some of the best pizza I've ever had and we had a wonderful dinner at the Ledger Hotel in Mokelumne City ... also the coffee shop in Volcano was great for breakfast. The day before we left a pig came wandering onto the property. I was really frightened because she went running toward our dog and I was afraid she was wild... turns out she is very friendly and is a pet... the person who owns her has a business card in the kitchen but we didn't read it before as I thought it was a realtor's card and ignored it..anyone going be aware... she loves to be petted but when you first see her she is startling

Wonderful hideaway, quiet, yet not far from things to do
We just spent four nights over the Fourth of July, wanting peace and quiet for our dog, who hates fireworks, as well as some time away with friends, and some friends who came up for a day. And this rental fits the bill perfectly. The view off the full back deck is beautiful; you look at trees and nature; we ate breakfast almost every day on it. Neighboring houses are hardly noticeable. Wildlife abounds; I saw deer twice on the property, and several times on the drive into or out of Sutter Creek. Facilities are very good; the kitchen is above average for a cabin-type rental, and two grills are provided, one charcoal, one propane. The house sits above Sutter Creek, which this year is flowing nicely, and our Golden Retriever enjoyed very much. (Note that the hillside is a bit steep). We also drove to the nearby North Fork of the Mokelumne River and spent some time on a beach. (The water was higher and faster than normal, so no chance for our dog to get out there.) Inside there is a large sectional, and one of the largest ottoman/pouf/lounging thing-a-mabobs I've ever seen. You can even fall asleep on it! The TV is upstairs, part of a little entertainment area/sleeping area (with foosball table). The downstairs bedroom was very nice, opening on to the deck, with a great mattress. Our friend reports her bed was comfortable as well. The cabin's location is about 10 minutes from the city of Sutter Creek, 15 minutes from Jackson, 20 from Plymouth and the Shenandoah Valley AVA. From Sacramento, it's a little over an hour away, and is well worth the drive. One caveat this time of year: there were quite a few wasps flying around. I suspect a lot of this is due to the good rains we've had the past couple of years. We will definitely be back.

Lovely spot for a get-away!
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there in early March of this year - even with the storm that passed through, we had a great time. We loved the large deck, and the layout of the house was very nice. The owner was easy and pleasant to work with for our reservation and appreciated her quick responses. We would highly recommend this property to get away for a break.
